Research conducted by the University of Glasgow has revealed that a monitoring device for the heart could prevent hospitalisation for millions of people across the globe.

The device that measures heart sounds, temperature and heart rate amongst other factors can alert irregularities for the set individual, showing any drastic changes before heart failure fully kicks in.

There will be further testing of the device to ensure that it can detect fluid changes in individuals while at home, which will be a key indicator to see if the device can be fully rolled out in the near future.

It was revealed this week that AstraZeneca are set to withdraw their Covid vaccine as it no longer makes sense for commercial and practical reasons.

The company's vaccine previously was thought to have saved millions of lives during the height of the pandemic, however AstraZeneca now say that new variants of the disease have caused demand to move to newer updated vaccines, with their version becoming less useful each day.

Ochre Bio have revealed that they will be partnering with Germany’s Boehringer Ingelheim in a deal worth $1 billion. The aim of the partnership is to produce treatments for chronic liver disease, which will use the organs capacity to regenerate.

Ochre Bio are set to receive payments of approximately $35 million upfront, rising to $1 billion if the treatment that is developed is then brought through clinical trials successfully.
