Day 1 at the CIPD Festival of Work and we're just getting started.
If you didn't get a chance to find us yesterday, today's your opportunity. We're on the exhibition floor all day - ccome and tell us what's on your people agenda right now.

At 14:25 on the Wellbeing Stage, our own Liam Linacre is chairing a panel that gets to the heart of something we hear constantly: wellbeing and performance aren't separate conversations. Trust is the thread that connects them.

He's joined by Claire Harley, Hospital Director at Benenden Hospital, Chris Tredget, COO at Fortem Solutions, and Rick Holt, Chief HR Officer at HCA Healthcare UK, to explore how trust shapes engagement, decision-making and resilience during change, and why it has to be built into leadership behaviours and systems, not bolted on as a wellbeing initiative.

The conversations we've had so far have reminded us why this work matters. Every organisation here is trying to do right by their people, and that's exactly what we're here to support.

Come and find us. Stand H45.

Trust under pressure. It's the question every people leader is sitting with right now. This afternoon at 13:30 on the Main Stage, Petra Velzeboer will be exploring what it really takes to lead people through change when it matters most, and why trust is the operating condition that makes high performance possible.

If you're at the Festival of Work today, come and find us at Stand H45 first. Pick up your free copy of The Trust Paradox, our new whitepaper on why behaviour, not belief, determines trust at work.

Then head to the Main Stage at 13:30. You won't regret it.

Most conversations about EVP stay in HR territory.
Engagement scores
Retention rates
Candidate attraction

All important. But they rarely make it into the boardroom.
These numbers do.

Organisations that invest properly in their people, with structure, independent insight, and a clear framework, are up to 23% more profitable and 18% more productive than those that don't. (Gallup, 2024)

That's not a people metric. That's a business case.

If your EVP is built on assumption rather than evidence, that gap is likely sitting somewhere in your results already.

This explains how organisations are closing it: https://bit.ly/4ofNbBh

To every organisation we celebrated today - thank you.
This morning at Events @ No. 6 in London, we had the honour of recognising the South of England organisations that have made a real, tangible commitment to making work better. Not just as an ambition, but as something they can demonstrate, measure, and be proud of.

Petra Velzeboer brought the room together with an inspiring session on workplace leadership, and our panel - Richard Forster - Managing Director of Joint Operations, Sharon Bridge - Head of Talent & Development at Action for Children, Lorraine Patrinos - People Director, GLL from IIP accredited organisations showed exactly what that commitment looks like day to day.

Rooms like today's remind us why this matters. The organisations in this community aren't waiting for the world of work to improve - they're the ones making it happen. Thank you!

We’re exhibiting next week at the People & Skills Conference 2026 next week!

This is an event focused on the future of skills, workforce development and the role organisations play in creating stronger, more resilient workplaces which is a conversation we’re always passionate about being part of.

If you’re attending, come and find us. We’ll be talking about how leadership, engagement and wellbeing connect directly to skills development and long-term performance and how independent assessment can give you the clarity to move forward with confidence.

We’d love to see you there.

Today we're here at Events @ No. 6 to celebrate the organisations across the South of England who have committed to making work better and that commitment deserves to be recognised.

This morning is for the HR leaders, the people champions, and the organisations who chose to invest in their people when it would have been easier not to. We see you.

Petra Velzeboer joins us shortly on workplace leadership, and we have a brilliant panel of accredited organisations ready to share what that commitment looks like from the inside.

Proud to be celebrating this community today. Let's go.

Trust is the competitive advantage no one can fake.

In a world of constant change, AI disruption and mounting pressure on leaders, one thing consistently separates thriving organisations from struggling ones.

Not technology. Not strategy. Trust.

That's what the Make Work Better Conference 2026 is built entirely around and this year Jake Humphrey headlines the day.
As co-host of The High Performance Podcast, Jake has spent years in conversation with the world's most successful leaders, athletes and teams. His insight on what builds high-performing cultures is practical, honest and immediately applicable.

He's joined by Jason Fox, Veronica Hope Hailey, Charlie Cannon and Petra Velzeboer and the day will include findings from our new research into the trust paradox facing modern organisations.

95% of attendees say they leave with new learnings they can apply straight away.
6 hours of CPD accredited learning.

Today's the day. The Trust Paradox is our new research into trust at work, and it's now live and free to download.

We surveyed more than 1,500 employees and HR leaders across the UK. What we found was striking. Most organisations believe they have a high-trust culture. Their employees' behaviour tells a very different story.

61% are covering themselves at work. 65% withheld something important in the last six months. And the most senior leaders are the most likely to hide their mistakes.

The gap between what leaders believe and what employees experience is real, it's measurable, and it's costing organisations in ways that don't always show up until it's too late.

If you lead people, or support those who do, this one's for you.
