Rebuilding Trust in Care Regulation: CQC’s Commitment to Improvement
At Antler Care, we support efforts to ensure care providers operate within a clear and robust regulatory framework. This month, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) laid out key actions to restore trust in their regulatory approach. These measures are aimed at creating a more transparent, effective, and responsive system, benefiting both care providers and the people who rely on these services.
Key Changes Include:
• A recruitment drive for a new Chief Executive and three Chief Inspectors to enhance leadership across health and care sectors.
• A review of the CQC’s Single Assessment Framework, ensuring it reflects the needs and experiences of both providers and service users.
• Pilots aimed at strengthening relationships with providers, starting with NHS Trusts and extending across all sectors.
• Internal improvements to increase the frequency of provider assessments, allowing for quicker, clearer, and more effective ratings and feedback.
What to Expect:
Providers can anticipate a streamlined assessment process, clearer reporting, and more frequent engagements with the CQC. These updates aim to provide a holistic view of service quality, ensuring care remains safe, effective, and person-centred.
Engagement with providers and service users will be vital during this period. Roadshows and co-design activities are planned, providing opportunities for direct feedback and collaboration.
At Antler Care, we are committed to supporting our partners through these regulatory changes. If you have any questions about how these updates may impact your organisation or want to learn more about CQC compliance, please reach out to our team.
