From Castlemorton, the largest illegal rave of the 1992s, to the Criminal Justice Bill, “Free Party: A Folk History” traces a countercultural movement that began in the British countryside before spreading across the world.

On Friday 18 September, the film will be screened at Reinstate as part of the four-day Spiral Tribe Exhibition programme [] 🌀

After the screening, movie director / will be joined by , director of .themovie and members of the original Spiral Tribe crew for an exclusive live conversation and audience Q&A!

A rare chance to explore the history of this underground movement through the voices of those who documented it and lived it.

Bad Girlz bring together IxIndamix’s slamming electronic rhythms and analogue mischief with Simone Sim Simmer’s soulful melodies, irreverent lyrics and unmistakable energy!

Two original members of the Spiral Tribe SP23 story. Two raving mothers with attitude. One explosive live performance 🌀

Sim Simmer was there at the very first Spiral Tribe party. When the police confiscated the generator, she organised another one in the middle of the night…and the party continued… 🏴‍☠️

Twenty years later, their signature blend of rave energy, heavy electronics, humour and attitude continues to move dancefloors of Boomtown, Glastonbury Festival and across the whole Europe.

A PEN. BLACK INK. A LOGARITHMIC SPIRAL.

After leaving his job in Reading, Mark Angelo Harrison Mark Angelo moved to London, where he immersed himself in a world of DJs, artists and musicians.

While working at a print studio, he discovered the logarithmic spiral of an ammonite… a symbol of life, evolution and chaos. The next day, he quit his job and began a new project.

🌀 He called it Spiral Tribe🌀

Today, Mark is a writer, photographer and artist whose visual work remains inseparable from the history and identity of the movement.

On Friday 18 September, he brings Space Pirates Screen Printing to the Spiral Tribe Exhibition. Bring your own T-shirt and print it with an original Space Pirates design 🏴‍☠️

In the early 1990s, Spiral Tribe transformed abandoned spaces into temporary communities built around music, freedom and participation.

From Castlemorton and the Criminal Justice Act to the spread of the free party movement across Europe, their influence travelled far beyond the dancefloor 🏴‍☠️

More than thirty years later, the story continues to resonate.

Kris Panik and 🪼 Madtronik 🪼

After more than twenty years, from the clubs and free party fields of Italy to the warehouses and industrial spaces of London, we’ve grown through organising raves, building communities rooted in underground culture and chasing something meaningful through music. It felt like the right time to create a home for everything we’ve learned along the way.

This is Unmasked Records.

This label isn’t built around a genre.
It’s built around a way of thinking. A way of living.

Techno and tekno are our roots.
Crossover is our third direction.

We’ve never believed that music should fit inside categories or be shaped by trends. Genres help people describe music, but they should never define creativity.

For us, music has never been just entertainment. It’s culture. It’s resistance. It’s instinct. It’s emotion.

Every release on Unmasked Records will reflect who we are, where we come from and everything that has shaped us over the years.

There were warehouses, sound systems, DIY networks and a movement that changed UK and European underground culture forever.

After travelling across Europe, Unmasked presents the Spiral Tribe Exhibition - - for the very first time in London, in the city where their story left one of its deepest marks throughout the 1990s and far beyond.

4 days of cultural programme bringing together history, music, ideas and collective memory with Spiral Tribe crew, rooted in the free party ethos of resistance, DIY spirit and creative autonomy 🌀

A rare exploration through archives, images, visual language and the countercultural legacy of one of the most influential movements of recent decades.

The exhibition will be free and accessible throughout the programme.
Exclusive panel talks, workshops, screenings, interviews and live sessions featuring Spiral Tribe crew and special partners will be announced over the coming months.
