The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, currently under construction, is located in the heart of the Saadiyat Cultural District, a museum of modern and contemporary art with a mission to contribute to and stimulate expansive perspectives on the history of art. Presenting an international collection with a specific focus on West Asia, North Africa, and South Asia (WANASA), Guggenheim Abu Dhabi fosters a deeper understanding of how different local, regional, and international forces have shaped the interconnected histories and cultures of our time.
We’re looking for an Assistant/Associate Conservator to join their team!
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Project team within The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and will work closely with colleagues at the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi. The role works collaboratively with teams in both Abu Dhabi and New York supporting the preparation, documentation, installation and long-term care of artworks across a wide range of media, including time-based works. The position also includes reviewing and providing feedback on exhibition design concepts and schematic drawings.
Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Art Conservation or an equivalent graduate qualification, along with a minimum of two to five years of post-graduate conservation experience in a museum or comparable institutional setting. A strong understanding of modern and contemporary artists’ materials and practices is essential, particularly in relation to installation-based works.
