The first hire often shapes everything that follows, setting the foundation on which the rest of the team is built. Many private staffing structures evolve around immediate needs and early hires, which can lead to blurred responsibilities, unclear reporting lines and an over-reliance on one individual. Taking the time to get the first one or two hires right creates a stronger structure for sustainable growth and future team development.

Building a private staff team from scratch. Why the first hire shapes the whole structure, the order that works, and how to avoid blurred roles as the team grows.

• Supporting the mother with childcare as and when required

• Planning and preparing healthy family meals

• Running household errands and managing day-to-day tasks

• Wardrobe management, including seasonal organisation and garment care

• Light housekeeping and ensuring the home remains organised and presentable

• Managing household inventories and replenishing supplies as required

• Experience caring for toddlers and knowledge of child development

• Highly organised with strong administrative and household management skills

• Excellent spoken and written English

• Warm, energetic, proactive, and genuinely helpful nature

• A driving license is preferred, but not essential

• Comfortable undertaking a varied role combining childcare and household support

• Professional, discreet, and trustworthy with a flexible and adaptable approach

• Right to live and work in the UK

BRILLIANT PRIVATE CHEF REQUIRED IN LONDON + TRAVEL

SALARY: £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, DOE

A lovely UHNW family based in Central London is looking to hire an experienced and talented Private Chef to join their household team on a permanent basis. Versatility, flexibility, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential requirements for this role, and the successful candidate will have demonstrable experience working in similar roles and reputable top-end restaurants, ideally Michelin-starred. The family are looking for a Chef who is exceptional in all they do, consistently producing outstanding, memorable family-style meals and top-end wow-factor dishes when entertaining.

Joining an established household and working collaboratively with the other chefs, the ideal candidate will have a good sense of humour, excellent communication skills and be warm and friendly in nature with the ability to multitask and take any unexpected changes in their stride. Preparing lunch and dinner for a family of 4, you should have a solid foundation in most world cuisines – they prefer modern, Mediterranean-style cooking over traditional haute cuisine, especially Italian and Spanish, and also really enjoy Pan-Asian and Japanese dishes. Meals are generally served family style, but when entertaining, meals might be plated and for larger numbers.

This is a live-out role in Central London at the family’s primary residence, but you will also be required to travel with the family (usually a few weeks at a time) with accommodation provided when not in London. Usually working on a 2-week on, 1-week off basis, the hours can vary depending on the family’s schedule, so the role requires someone not rigid in their schedule and able to offer some flexibility.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO

• Working alongside other chefs and taking direction from the Chef Manager

• Assisting the Chef Manager with menu planning, when required

• Preparing high-quality, wholesome, and varied family-style meals for the family

• Liaising with the Chef Manager on stock control, inventory management and provisioning

• Travelling with the family to their countryside home & internationally

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• At least 15-20 years’ experience working in high-end restaurants or private households

• Strict on hygiene procedures

• Highly organised, motivated, and proactive

• Strong team player with a can-do, happy to ‘muck-in’ attitude

• Flexible, adaptable and able to multitask

• Friendly, calm and warm with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Trustworthy, reliable, and discreet

• Flexible in terms of working days/hours and willing to travel with the family

• Eligibility to live and work in the UK
