AWITA London AWITA is a non-profit networking group that aims to advance the careers of women in the visual arts.

The Association of Women in the Arts is a networking association dedicated to women who work in the visual arts. Founded in London, we foster business links within the arts community, hosting informative discussions and providing a forum for women to connect with other like-minded professionals. We actively support the creation of exciting new collaborations and provide networking and mentoring op

portunities for those looking to develop their careers and/or businesses. Comprised of individuals with a minimum of 5 years working in the professional arts field, the association is open to gallerists, art advisors, educationalists, museum and fair directors, auctioneers, artists, curators and collectors.

On the 10th of June, AWITA Switzerland officially launches.

The conversation will draw on findings from the 2026 AWITA × Artnet survey, examining how its insights resonate within the Swiss art ecosystem and the experiences of women working across the sector.

Ahead of the AWITA Switzerland launch in just under 2 weeks, we want to introduce the Swiss Team spearheading the new chapter.

Alexa Jeanne Kusber () and Xanthi Skoulariki () are the co-founders of AWITA Switzerland, joined by Stephanie Yarce () Gabriela Devaud and Caroline Hirt.

Together they bring complementary strengths across the institutional, curatorial, and commercial dimensions of the Swiss and international art world and a shared belief in the power of women to lead its future.

The AWITA Switzerland Launch is taking place in Zurich on the 10th June and the membership application platform opens the same day.

Switzerland occupies a uniquely influential position within the global art world, bringing together institutions, collectors, foundations, private capital and an internationally connected cultural community. It feels both a natural and exciting place for AWITA to grow.

We are pleased to introduce the two remarkable women leading this next chapter: Alexa Jeanne Kusber () and Xanthi Skoulariki ().

Together, they will build a community rooted in connection, collaboration and ambition, bringing together women across mountains and linguistic regions while linking into AWITA’s wider international network.

Yesterday, we hosted a breakfast at to honour 25 cultural leaders across generosity, vision, and impact - not as a retrospective, but as a living recognition of what they are building and passing forward.

As AWITA enters its tenth year, it feels like the right moment to recognise that leadership is not singular - it is collective, relational, and built through connection.

These 25 women represent a truly global network. Each, in her own way, is shaping how culture is produced, supported, and understood—not only through individual achievement, but through the ecosystems they sustain and the futures they make possible.

The inaugural honourees of AWITA Honours Leaders in Culture. 

The Honours recognise cultural leaders and highlights AWITA’s role in expanding viability and driving equity for women working within the arts. Coinciding with our 10th anniversary and with the Biennale as a focal point, the Honours bring into focus individuals whose leadership is redefining cultural infrastructures and future narratives. 

The 25 women nominated by a global network of art leaders were recognised in a ceremony at venice today.
