Congratulations to LSgt David Ward, who successfully completed the Basic Army Reserve Physical Training Instructor (AR PTI) Course at the Army School of Physical Training (ASPT) in Aldershot, passing out this week following an intensive two-week course.
The course combines practical physical training with classroom-based learning, covering anatomy, training principles, lesson planning and risk assessments. This equips candidates to deliver safe and effective physical training sessions and conduct fitness testing. Of the 44 candidates who started the course, 38 successfully passed out.
LSgt Ward was awarded the crossed swords and red belt in recognition of his achievement, becoming, quite possibly, the first piccolo player ever to qualify as an Army Reserve PTI! At 43, he was also the second-oldest candidate on the course.
He was joined by Sgt Barney Thorp of the HAC Regiment - Honourable Artillery Company who successfully completed the Advanced AR PTI Course.
Congratulations to both on their achievements.
