Your guests will never ask whether the person pouring their w**e passed security clearance.

That's rather the point.

Everything around him in this picture happens long before he arrives: the references, the training, the briefing on your running order, the payroll, the replacement quietly lined up just in case.

Chefs don't often ask to be photographed, but their work tends to steal the frame anyway. A few favourites from this year's Event Photography Awards Catering, Food and Drink shortlist, from a smoky final course at The Shed in Bicester and a well-earned seat in the stands at the ATP Finals, to brunch checked by torchlight at Somerset House and a spice bag in full flight at Forest Feastival. The 12th edition of the Event Photography Awards took place last night, and it was everything we hoped it would be. 📸

Our congratulations to every winner. The standard was exceptional across every category, and this year we were proud to crown our Best Portfolio winner as Event Photographer of the Year, awarded for the most outstanding range of entries in the competition.

Event photography asks for instinct in the moment, and a body of work asks for that instinct to hold across a whole year - the same eye, the same discipline, in rooms that never sit still. Naming an Event Photographer of the Year recognises the positive direction our industry is heading in, and the photographers pushing it there.

Our thanks to Green & Fortune, whose food and drinks service were a real highlight, to Central Hall Westminster and the AV team for a welcoming and exciting space, and to all those who sponsored the competition this year - your support has grown with us.

To everyone who joined us, entered for the first time, or returned again: thank you. Already looking forward to the next!

On 2 September the Event Photography Awards returns, this year at Central Hall Westminster, and it's one of the most anticipated dates in our calendar!

Every year the calibre of entries reminds us how much craft goes into event photography - the artistry, the eye, the ability to catch a moment you only have a split second to capture.

We run these awards because we think that work deserves far more recognition than it's historically garnered, and the awards night is an opportunity to build community, and celebrate their work. 2025 was a fantastic year for events, and we're looking forward to marking it and spotlighting some truly spectacular work by event photographers at the awards.
