✨ The end of an era ✨

After 6 years onboard TCB, Brittany is stepping into a new chapter, and reading her words reminded us exactly what we hope crew take away from their time onboard 🤍

She speaks about the Captain and owners who believed in her when she joined in 2020, the incredible stews who stood beside her through the toughest charters, and the countless guest experiences that made all those crazy days worth it.

From tablescapes and murder mysteries to weddings, proposals and parties, she describes the most stressful moments becoming some of the most rewarding.

And then there’s the reality of it all… 28,000 steps a day, popping ch*****ne until your fingers bleed and somehow still making the magic happen 😂🥂

But what really stood out to us was the gratitude.

Gratitude for the people.
For the experiences.
For the guests who appreciated the work.
For everything this programme taught her.

And now, after 6 years, she’s taking some time to decide what comes next, because, as she put it, “it’s just finally time to take care of Brittany.”

And we think that’s something worth remembering.

Your career is important. Your programme is important. The guests and the work you create are important.

But so are you.

We hope that when you eventually leave a boat, you can look back with that same sense of pride, knowing you gave it your all, made memories, built friendships, learnt more than you realised and left with stories you’ll carry for years.

Here’s to the people who make the long days worth it 🥰

One of the biggest mistakes we see in recruitment is leaving the search until the last minute.

A position becomes available, the clock starts ticking and suddenly you’re trying to find the right person as quickly as possible.

But the best matches don’t always happen overnight.

Giving yourself more time means you can be more selective. You can have conversations, get to know candidates properly, check references and find someone who actually fits the role, team and programme, rather than simply filling a space.

And the same goes for crew
If you know you’re going to be looking for your next role, don’t wait until you’re desperate to move. Start the conversation early.

The more time you give yourself, the more opportunities you can explore and the more likely you are to find something that’s genuinely right for you.

A new boat can sound exciting on paper.

A great salary. A bigger yacht. A better title. A new destination.

But before you say yes, make sure you’ve asked about the things that will actually shape your experience onboard.

Who will you be working with? What is the leadership like? Why is the position available? What will your day to day actually look like? What opportunities are there to progress? And does this programme genuinely fit what you’re looking for?

Because a job offer isn’t automatically the right opportunity.

The right opportunity is one that makes sense for where you are now and where you want to go next.

And if you’re not sure what questions you should be asking, that’s where having a recruiter you trust can make such a difference.

You’re interviewing them too 🤍

When you’re looking for your next yacht, it can be easy to feel like the only question is whether they want you.
But recruitment works both ways.

You should be able to ask questions. You should feel comfortable setting boundaries. You should be given clear information about the role. And you should leave an interview feeling that you’ve been treated with professionalism and respect.

There can be practical assessments and questions designed to understand how you work, that’s part of the process. But there are also things that simply aren’t okay 🚩

If something feels inappropriate, uncomfortable, overly personal or unrelated to the role, you don’t have to ignore that feeling just because you really want the opportunity 🚩

A good job opportunity shouldn’t require you to compromise your boundaries to get it

And especially if you’re newer to yachting, remember: you don’t have to navigate these situations alone. Talk to someone you trust, ask questions and get a second opinion if something doesn’t feel right.
