1️⃣ “My SIA licence is expiring – do I need a refresher?”
Yes.
If your Door Supervisor licence is due to expire, the SIA now requires you to complete a Refresher Training Course before you can renew.
2️⃣ “I already did training years ago – why again?”
The law changed.
The SIA introduced new safety content (terror awareness, vulnerability, spiking, searching, and emergency procedures).
Even experienced staff must complete the refresher to stay licensed.
3️⃣ “I can’t renew my licence online – it says training required”
This means the SIA has flagged your licence.
You must:
Book the Door Supervisor Refresher
Complete the course
Let the training provider upload your result
Then apply for renewal on the SIA website
4️⃣ “How long does the refresher take?”
Usually 2 days (or 1 day top-up depending on your previous qualification).
5️⃣ “What happens if I don’t do it?”
You cannot renew your licence.
Working without a valid licence is illegal and could lead to fines or prosecution.
6️⃣ “Is first aid required?”
Yes.
You must hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or equivalent certificate before attending the refresher.
7️⃣ “Is this course hard?”
No.
It is practical, discussion-based, and designed for working door supervisors.
Trainers will guide you through everything.
8️⃣ “When should I book?”
Book at least 4 months before your licence expires to avoid delays.
