There was a big failure with facial recognition technology at multiple UK airports within the last couple of weeks which caused huge delays for passengers.

The technology which checks a persons identity, eliminating the need for multiple passport desks with people manning them, failed and exposed the risk vs reward of using the technology on such a mass scale.

OpenAI has developed a new tool to detect images generated by its DALL-E AI and has enhanced watermarking methods to track its content. The tool includes an image detection classifier to predict if an image is from DALL-E 3 and a tamper-resistant watermark for tagging audio.

While the classifier accurately identifies DALL-E 3 images with 98 percent accuracy, it performs less effectively on content from other AI models, flagging only 5 to 10 percent.

Earlier this year, the House passed a bill that would have banned TikTok if its China-based owner, ByteDance, didn’t sell its stake, and now the potential TikTok ban, currently progressing through Congress, is advancing rapidly.

If the bill passes the Senate and receives Biden's approval, TikTok users won't immediately lose access; ByteDance would have 270 days, extendable by 90, to divest TikTok, possibly leading to a ban between January and April 2025. Legal challenges may delay this timeline, with TikTok indicating readiness to contest the law if passed, citing concerns over users' First Amendment rights.
