I was interviewed on TV this morning - do you agree with this?
Talk TV invited me on again to discuss the report that came out yesterday that said most recruiters believe that 57 year olds and over are "too old" to get a new job.
Do you agree?
He asked my opinion - and I'm not one to sit on the fence when asked.
The sad reality is that ageism, like many other discriminations does exist - regardless of whether we want to believe it or not - they do.
In the same way 'being too young' can also go against you also.
He asked if there is anything that older candidates can do?- I said keep up to date with new and emerging technologies including AI and try to use your age as a positive - i.e bringing a wealth of knowledge, learning and understanding as well as a high likelihood that you may stay in that job until you retire - as opposed to being young and 'job hoppy' - again, sweeping generalisations, but you get my point.
Do you think you have you been discriminated against in a job interview? and for what reason?
As always I love going on TV or radio - it was also quite nice to wear a bit of make up first thing in the morning - for a change!
