Looking back on this photo, I was reminded how much I’ve always admired Jamelia 💜

Not just for her music and television career, but for the way she has consistently used her voice to support women and speak openly about important issues. Through her work with charities such as Refuge and ActionAid UK , and by sharing her own experiences, she has helped empower so many women.

I met her seven years ago this week while volunteering at a Pregnant Then Screwed event, and she was every bit as lovely and inspiring in person.

Seven years later, I’m still passionate about safeguarding and supporting victims through my professional work, volunteering and campaigning.

Alongside my work as a Professional Mentor and Career Coach, I’m currently dedicating my volunteer time to leading the Bev Nickson ChangeTheCheck campaign, calling for civil orders linked to stalking, harassment and coercive control to be considered within the DBS system to strengthen safeguarding and help close dangerous loopholes involving people in positions of trust.

Because safeguarding should be preventative, not reactive.

And women supporting women will never go out of style. 💜
