A key driver for us at REAL Jobs is inspiring positive employment outcomes. Nothing makes us happier than placing candidates in their dream roles, working for a reputable organisation that will truly value and fulfil them. We also work hard to closely align ourselves with employers and candidates who share our values, and we care to look after our people using the same principles we abide by – Respect, Ethics, Activism and Love.

While we’re not in any position to dictate how our clients run their operations, we do our utmost to ensure that everyone we place will be treated fairly and kindly. This means that their time and efforts should be held in the highest regard and not just remunerated but also recognised.

Employers need to pay more attention to how important acknowledging their workforce’s efforts is. Sometimes, acknowledgement means far more than money, which often equates to a trade-off of a person’s time with their family or dabbling around in their favourite hobby. When their hard work goes unnoticed, it can leave an employee feeling somewhat despondent.

In terms of employee satisfaction, rewards of recognition and remuneration can go a long way to fulfilling employees. If employers aren’t already considering how this motivates and drives productivity, we encourage them to explore ways to support their staff in being the best they can be.

Employment dynamics are an interesting beast. 20 years ago, pecking orders in the workplace were a given – from the big boss at the top to the company's lowest income earners.

These days, we work according to much flatter structures, placing far more emphasis on the value of the contribution made by everyone within a business. This has resulted in us generating far more diverse and encompassing views and ideas while promoting organisational equity that fosters a sense of inclusion and belonging.

Employee retention is a growing challenge. Traditionally, businesses would call the shots on the conditions their staff must adhere to. However, The Great Resignation highlighted that employee needs had to be taken seriously.

Based on our experience at REAL Jobs, here are some of the top 5 reasons employees are choosing to leave…

Lacking leadership – When employees don’t have solid organisational role models, they question the business’s direction and their role and may leave in pursuit of better security.

Inflexible work conditions – Rigid work hours and time not given off for personal reasons can result in an employee feeling stifled and compromise work-life balance.

Unclear company structure – Understanding who is responsible for what and how these roles tie together helps maintain a tight ship in which employees feel more secure.
