Thank you teachers for all your professionalism, passion and commitment!!

National Thank a Teacher Day is a bit different this year, with most children being kept home away from schools. This time I am sure has created a whole new level of respect for teachers, school leaders, teaching assistants and all other staff who work in our schools, so thank you to you all!

Captain Sir Tom Moore - a true national treasure!

WWII veteran and NHS fundraising hero Captain Tom is to be knighted. Being described as a "beacon of light through the fog of coronavirus" by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, he inspired a nation whilst raising nearly £40 million for the NHS and releasing a number 1 record!

Arise Sir Tom, we salute you!

This week (18th - 24th May) is
🧠
The theme for this year is ‘kindness’. Kindness can significantly improve our physical and emotional wellbeing - whether we are giving, receiving or just observing it! It can positively impact you in many ways;

❤️It’s good for your heart - when you commit an act of kindness, your body produces a hormone called oxytocin. Oxytocin causes the release of a nitric oxide, which opens up the blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. This important hormone also increases our self-esteem and optimism!

👵🏻It slows the ageing process - Scientists found that if you introduced oxytocin to skin cells put under stress, the levels of oxidative stress (which plays a role in the ageing process) is significantly reduced

😀It makes you feel happy - Being kind also produces serotonin. This is often called the 'happy chemical' and has been found to help heal wounds, calm you down, and improve your mood.

😥It reduces stress and anxiety - As these conditions are linked to low levels of serotonin, being kind could ease emotional and physical effects on our body.

👩‍❤️‍👨It’s contagious! - Kindness creates a ripple effect that can improve the day of many people. .

💊It reduces pain - Kindness produces
endorphins, the brain's natural painkiller. Endorphins are hormones that deal with stress and reduce feelings of pain.
