THE DISADVANTAGES OF YOUR RESUME

Today let's talk about some of the most common mistakes on your resume that make your employer's opinion of you much worse.

➡️Weird photos on your resume. These include wedding and event photos, beach photos, and selfies. If you do decide to add a photo to your resume, use studio photos with strict office attire.

➡️ Unreadable or funny work email. Leave kisa_kisa@, sweet_princess93@ and king_size_oleg@ for personal use. It is better to have a new e-mail for job search.

➡️ An irrelevant resume. Perhaps you should not include information about student internships, if you graduated from university 10 years ago.

➡️ Incorrect timeline of events on your resume.

➡️ Your resume lists several positions for which you are applying. Both the seamstress and the reaper and the sales manager. This is very discouraging. List one position, the most desirable.

➡️Make your resume too long or too short. The actual resume size is approximately one A4 page.

➡️ Artistic fonts. Do away with them; your resume should be as readable as possible.

Check your resume for the above errors.

FOR A HEAVEN OF THE DAY.

A little professional humor!

It's summer, team building in the park, managers are roasting a shish kebab, the secretary is picking flowers, the accountant is playing the guitar... Only the head of the department is sitting sadly on a log...

The director of the company sits down with him and asks:

- Oleg Mikhaylovich, why are you in a bad mood? Why are you sad?

Oleg Mikhailovich looks up and answers the director:

- Alexei Stepanovich, you know ... I've been looking at the ants for three hours ... They have no meetings, no briefings ... and THEY ARE WORKING!

INTERVIEW FOR THE EMPLOYER

Or what questions you can ask an employer at a job interview. Remember that the job market is a place where simple sales laws apply. You sell your skills and experience, and the company offers jobs and working conditions.

In addition to the standard questions about salary, work schedules, and sick leave, we recommend that you ask the employer a number of additional questions:

➡️ What do I have to accomplish in this position to be promoted?

➡️ Is it possible to work from home occasionally?

➡️ Does the company help its employees grow professionally? Does the company offer corporate training and continuing education courses?

➡️ Is there a probationary period, is the pay different during the probationary period, if so, by how much?

➡️ Does the company have any penalties?

➡️ Which bank cards are used for paying wages? Are there any preferential terms for company employees?

These simple questions will give you a more complete picture of the employer and show you as a serious and interested candidate.

HOW TO PRESENT AN IDEA TO THE MANAGEMENT

If you have an idea or plan to streamline some workflow or introduce an exciting new project, but you don't know how to properly present them, then save the post with useful information! ⤵️

➡️ You need to formulate arguments as to why your supervisor should be the one to support your endeavor:

▪️ Initially formulate the essence of the idea. Clearly and without "water".

▪️ Calculate the costs that will be required to implement the innovation.

▪️ Write down the intended result of the results of implementing your idea, highlighting the benefits to the company.

▪️ Make a clear and detailed plan for implementing your idea.

▪️ Try to calculate in advance the possible objections of the manager as well as the risks for the company.

▪️ It is great if you can understand your manager's personality and psycho-type. Based on this information, you will be able to make a "tasty" pitch of your idea just for this person.

▪️ Be sure to package the idea. It can be a presentation or a graphic, but most importantly, make sure the visuals are readable and understandable.

Among other things, remember that half of your win is confidence.

HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR VALUE IN THE LABOR MARKET

This question is of interest not only to those who are planning to get a job in the near future, but also to those who have been working for a long time, but believe that they receive too low a salary.

How do you determine your value in the labor market and understand, what sum you should tell the employer at the interview?

We tell you! ⤵️

➡️ Monitor. Evaluate your demand in the job market by the number of current job openings.

➡️ Review job openings and note what salaries candidates with similar experience to yours are expecting.

➡️ Look for salary analytics in your industry and, importantly, in your area. Ideally, if you can find this information over several years.

➡️ Inquire about future projections in your field. Whether your profession is a dying one or whether, on the contrary, in a couple of years it will be much more in demand than it is today.

➡️ Ask about the salaries of acquaintances and colleagues in your field who work in other companies. Find out exactly what functions are included in their responsibilities.

➡️ Attend a few interviews to make sure your experience and qualifications match employers' requirements.

This information will give you an idea of what kind of salary you can expect.

WHAT'S STOPPING YOU FROM DEVELOPING

If you realized that you are standing in one place, but you can't explain why, then test yourself for the following nuances:

➡️ You don't understand what you want or why you need this very development. You do not have a clear vector of direction in which direction you need to move.

➡️ You are afraid to take on new tasks or projects. After all, it's much more comfortable and easier to perform familiar activities in peace.

➡️ You are not ready to change anything in work or in life in general.

➡️ You still could not find the time or desire to make a clear plan to achieve the goal. Continuing education courses, trainings, lectures and webinars, changing jobs... What do you need it for, really?

➡️ You do not receive or do not want to receive feedback on your activities, and therefore cannot work on your mistakes.

If you notice anything like this behind you, we suggest you pay close attention to it and try to rectify the situation as soon as possible!

HOW TO EVALUATE A CANDIDATE THROUGH A VIDEO CV

A video CV is a common practice today. It may be said it is a new reality of employment. How to work with a video CV, what to pay attention to?

➡️What the applicant focuses on. Psychologists say that those skills and abilities that the candidate talks about most inspire are his strengths.

➡️What topics the applicant try to avoid. A person always tends to silent facts that don’t show them in a very good light. For example, a person may avoid answering the question why he/she has left his/her previous job.

➡️The way the candidate looks. Pay attention to what the applicant is wearing. If you are looking for a manager, and he/she “came” to an interview wearing sportswear, then he/she is unlikely to look presentable at important negotiations.

➡️Rhetoric. Can he/she speak well? Does he/she have negotiation skills? For a number of vacancies, these parameters can be of fundamental importance.

➡️Look for non-verbal cues. Eyes tell everything about a person. Even if he/she speaks calmly and confidently, the eyes always uncover inside emotions. ⠀

➡️What is the quality of the video? Modern technologies allow making a good video even with an inexpensive smartphone. If the quality of the video is really poor, we can say an employee did not care, so he/she is not motivated enough.
Have you already tried a video CV?

HOW TO CORRECTLY INFORM ABOUT LEAVING THE COMPANY

It would seem nothing difficult. However, many people are afraid of the leader's emotional reaction, do not want to let the company down by leaving it... For the most responsible, leaving is akin to betrayal.

If you are going to leave your place of work, but feel worried, first make sure you have done everything to fix whatever you do not like about your current position. You shall feel sure that you have talked to your boss, explained what you need, suggested options for improving the situation, but haven’t been heard.

If you have made the decision to leave, use Self-messages to tell the leader about it: “For me further development is very important. As far as I understand, it is not possible in our company yet. Therefore, I decided to leave for another place.” Such a type of delivery helps the other party to perceive information more calmly.

Then be sure to think about how to comfortably hand over your responsibilities to another employee. It is important to leave the company well, the skill of positive separation from the employer is a very important one for a career. It will also help you get positive references.

We hope this information will help you in this no simple matter.

SKILLS ESPECIALLY RELEVANT PRESENTLY

As time goes and the global situation changes, the requirements for employees also change. Given a precarious situation and many people working remotely, employers especially value today the following qualities and skills:

➡️Ability to think critically, to question and verify third parties’ information.

➡️Ability to offer and justify solutions rather than just carry out the tasks set by leaders.

➡️Ability to quickly adapt to a new situation, be ready for changes in working conditions, goals, and objectives.

➡️Ability to remain calm, not get emotionally involved in general panic and keep common sense.

➡️Ability to quickly achieve results using optimal resources. Ability to complete tasks right away, and not postpone them.

➡️Skills of successful negotiations with partners, clients, and employees. Knowledge of business etiquette and psychology of relationships.

If you have these skills, then you can include them in your CV. If not, then by developing these skills you will succeed in your career.

THREE LIFE HACKS FOR CV WRITING

Going to write a CV? Be sure to use our life hacks!

1️⃣ Before writing your CV, specify a job search area as much as possible. It is important to understand that a CV at its core is a commercial proposal for real vacancies in one field. If you are going to look for different job options, then it is better to write several CVs.

2️⃣ Be sure to mention your work experience even if it was part-time employment or a part of your educational process. It is important for an employer to see your work experience. It will be great if you can describe in detail the results achieved per each task.

3️⃣ Don't skip over additional sections in your CV, use them to your advantage. Fill out “about myself”, “trainings” sections, but remember the information in those sections shall be relevant to the position you are applying for.

These life hacks will help you write a competent CV!
