Happy International Women’s Day to my lovely friends, colleagues and all my female contacts

This job is not an easy one, we Recruiters all know that… I sometimes think we must be slightly nuts to stay in Recruitment, especially for 25 years and 18 years of that in Rec2Rec LOL…

So to celebrate I treated myself to an online personality profile (as it’s been maybe seven years since I did one) and I think it’s important to keep up with these things if you expect candidates to do them ? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Some of my traits, I’m happy to say are enthusiasm, empathy, resilience, proactiveness, curiosity, and a strong sense of integrity!!

On reflection on a day for Women to be celebrated, I hope we agree these traits are a choice not a gift, you are not born with fight, empathy or resilience.
I really believe these qualities are a choice, made every morning… day by day

Life is tough, it’s meant to be BUT when you get out of bed to fight a new day, everyday you have done your upmost to enjoy life, our short time on this planet 🌍

As a strong woman, a tenacious recruiter and owning three rescue cats (getting absolutely no love from them at all 😂) I wanted to remind us all that the above are a necessity daily ! Live it to the full ladies 💥🙌

I’m not looking right now?… 90% of the time is exactly what we hear at first approach

So when is the best time to look? Timing is everything. 🕰️

So why are you only looking when…

you are absolutely ready to walk out the door because you’ve just had enough?

Or when your company is making redundancies?

Or when you just feel you might want a change? …

The best advice any recruiter will ever give you is move when the perfect job FOR YOU is available TO YOU… and it is imperative that you are aware of this position at the time it is available

And understand that you must have a relationship with a recruiter who is willing to be patient, working in the background and ALWAYS keeping your career in mind, searching for the right opportunity when it arises, this is absolutely crucial

Make life choices when the best choices are available ….always!! Some of the most successful people I know in our industry absolutely know this

That is why they landed that perfect job that nobody else knew about.

That is why they got three or four promotions above everybody else even though you started in Recruitment at the same time.

Have a strong relationship with a strong recruiter, it is absolutely essential when looking after your future self 💥
