We are back for another edition of 🛑 Recruiter Pet Peeves 🛑

This one’s for everyone who’s just starting out in yachting, and we say this with the best intentions.

We speak to a lot of newcomers who arrive with huge ambitions, specific boat sizes, salary expectations, dream itineraries, and honestly? That excitement is exactly what this industry needs.

But here’s something we’ve learned from years of placing crew on some incredible vessels:

The people who go the furthest in yachting almost never started with the perfect first role. They started with the right attitude.

They said yes to the smaller boats. They made themselves indispensable in junior positions. They built a reputation long before they built a wish list, and their HoDs noticed.

Yachting is a small world. The captain on a 30m today could be on the 70m your applying for later down the line, and they remember the crew who showed up with energy and humility.

A great attitude will always open more doors for you than just a great CV.

Meet the team | Introducing Andrea, our Interior Recruitment Specialist 💼👏

Andrea joined team back in April to support our interior desk, placing exceptional staff in interior roles across yachting, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board.

Andrea moved to the South of France in late 2003 and began her yachting journey as a stewardess. By late 2004, her passion for the industry led her to transition into yacht recruitment, and she hasn’t looked back since.

Having witnessed the industry evolve and grow over the years, Andrea brings with her a wealth of first-hand knowledge and a genuine love for the world of yachting.

After a hiatus from The Crew Hunter in 2022, Andrea has rejoined the team and is excited to be working alongside such an innovative and progressive group of people, and we’re equally excited to have her back.

With her background as a former stewardess and years of specialist recruitment experience, Andrea understands the interior world from the inside out. When it comes to placing exceptional interior talent, there are few better placed to do it.

🚣‍♀️ Outside of work, Andrea keeps active and hits the gym at least three times a week. She’s also a keen kayaker.

🎬 Fun fact: In 2007, Andrea was invited aboard a 70-metre yacht for a party with the entire cast of Ocean’s Thirteen! ⚓

Our latest company retreat in Mallorca ☀️ 🛥️

Recently, the YCRT team touched down in Spain for our latest quarterly meetup.

Our itinerary was a mix of team bonding exercises and island exploration, featuring a challenging trek up to the Castell d’Alaró and some much-needed time to recharge as a team.

These quarterly meet-ups are essential for our team. They provide the perfect environment to step back from the daily routine, align on our goals, and, most importantly, let our hair down after a productive period.

We’re arrived back at our desks, fully recharged and ready to tackle the challenges of the upcoming season with even more focus and drive.

We absolutely love hosting these impromptu events with our alumni whenever we get the chance, it’s the best part of what we do!
