What can I say…

A church full, an incredible atmosphere, and so many people saying they’ll definitely be back next month!

I still can’t quite believe it’s happened. What started as a small idea has become a reality, and what a first evening it was.

I’m incredibly grateful to every single person who supported, encouraged, prayed, volunteered, invited others, played, sang, welcomed people, and helped make Encounter possible. This simply wouldn’t have happened without you.

Tonight was special, but I genuinely believe this is only the beginning.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about growing your own food.

Today we picked our very first home-grown punnet of strawberries 🍓

They may not be perfectly shaped, and the harvest certainly won’t keep the supermarkets worried, but they taste all the sweeter knowing they’ve been grown with a little patience, care, and a lot of hope!

It’s amazing how much joy can come from something so simple. From tiny plants to a punnet full of strawberries, it’s a reminder that good things take time to grow.

Now the big question is… will they make it indoors before they’ve all been eaten? 😋🍓

“What a difference a day makes” — or in this case, a few months!

Back in October, I came up with this slightly bizarre idea out of the blue: creating a Sunday evening worship service with a modern worship music style. Honestly, I expected to be shut down straight away by everyone I mentioned it to.

“We’ve tried that before.”
“No-one ever attends.”
“One service on a Sunday is enough.”
“You don’t have enough experience.”

But none of that happened.

Straight away, my minister, her daughter, and one of my closest church friends all agreed to support me. I was genuinely surprised.

Then November arrived, and so did chemotherapy. Suddenly, all the ideas and plans were pushed firmly onto the back burner whilst I focused on getting through treatment.

When I went into remission in April 2026, I decided this would become one of my main priorities alongside returning to work full-time. Around 10 weeks ago, I reached out to six people to see whether they would support me and become part of this exciting project.

And now, in what feels like the blink of an eye, 7th June is almost here — this Sunday!

Our very first Encounter Worship takes place at 6pm at Epworth Methodist Church, 42 Blackbird Road, Leicester, LE4 0FW.

This afternoon, after a couple of friends messaged saying they would love to come along, the nerves suddenly kicked in a little. So I grabbed my headphones and went for a walk.

But feeling nervous usually means you truly care.

And honestly? I think this is one of the most important evenings of my life so far.

My first service was a huge occasion. My re-confirmation was incredibly special. Meeting my partner twenty years ago will always be one of my greatest memories. Reaching number 11 in the UK with my business in 2024 was a massive milestone. Flying first class to Antigua definitely ranks highly too!

But this feels different.

Because this was a personal choice. A decision I made myself. It would have been far easier to simply continue preaching on Sunday mornings and quietly work through my four-year course.

Instead, we decided to step out in faith and create something new.

So here goes… Sunday night, 6pm. Encounter Worship.

Argh… 😅

After weeks of planning, praying, conversations, ideas, and excitement, we’re finally launching ENCOUNTER — a new Sunday evening gathering at Epworth Methodist Church, Leicester.

🕕 Sunday 7th June 2026
📍 Epworth Methodist Church, Blackbird Road, Leicester, LE4 0FW

Encounter has been created as a welcoming and relaxed space for people to come together, pause from the busyness of life, and spend time in music, reflection, encouragement, and community.

The evening will include live music, a short message, time to reflect, and a warm atmosphere where everyone is welcome — whether church has been part of your life for years, you’re exploring faith, or you simply fancy trying something different on a Sunday evening.

This will initially take place on the first Sunday of each month, and we’re really excited to see where the journey leads.

Sometimes the biggest step forward is simply getting outside and going for a walk.

Over the past year, I’ve learned that health isn’t just about hospital appointments, treatments, or results — it’s also about the small moments. Fresh air, quiet thoughts, tired legs, and reminding yourself that you’re still moving forward, even on the difficult days.

Not every walk has to be about fitness. Sometimes it’s just about clearing your head, breathing a little deeper, and appreciating the fact you’re able to take the steps at all.

Today was one of those walks.

Poor little Cilla has been back to the vets this morning 😢 She’s got an infection under her arm (yes, I know they’re all technically legs, but her front ones are arms to me 🤣).

It’s quite infected and weeping, so she’s now on antibiotics and has the lovely addition of a collar to stop her licking it. She’s absolutely going to love me this evening!!! 🫣
