Today we had the pleasure of welcoming the lovely Louise Wood from The Salvation Army into Recra Studio . ❤️

We spent the morning talking about their Christmas Toy Appeal, the food bank, and some of the other amazing work The Salvation Army does to support communities across South Leicester.

We captured some great videos which we’ll be sharing in the run-up to Christmas, helping to raise awareness of the different ways we can all support those who need it, but also importantly, how people can access that support when they need it themselves.

It was such a lovely morning and a great reminder of just how much incredible work goes on behind the scenes within our local community. ❤️

Sometimes a CV lands in front of you and you just think… more businesses need to know this person exists.

This is one of those people.

A seriously impressive senior Operations and Supply Chain leader who has operated at C Suite level across global manufacturing businesses.

The numbers are impressive, but for me it’s the combination of commercial thinking, operational knowledge and the ability to go from the boardroom straight onto the shop floor that really stands out.

So rather than just sending a CV around and hoping it lands at the right time, I thought I’d do something a little different.

I’m keeping them completely anonymous, but have a watch of the video.

If you’re thinking “actually, we could do with someone like this…” then give me a shout.

The best people aren’t always sitting on a job board waiting to be found.

I want to introduce you to a candidate who I genuinely think is going to be a huge asset to the right manufacturing business.

This candidate is a Quality & Environmental Leader with over 13 years’ experience across engineering and manufacturing — but what really stood out to me is the breadth she brings.

“Recruitment doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs to be done properly.”

Six years into running Recra, and I still believe the best recruitment comes down to something pretty simple…

Know your market.
Know your clients.
Know your candidates.
And actually care about getting the match right.

No CV throwing.
No filling inboxes for the sake of it.
No trying to squeeze a square peg into a round hole because there’s a fee attached.

Just proper conversations, honest advice, a strong network and a recruitment process that feels refreshingly human.

Because whether I’m representing a candidate or partnering with a business, my name sits alongside that introduction.

And I take that pretty seriously. 🙂

There’s something about a Teams background that just makes you POP ✨😂

And I have to say, one of the biggest luxuries of creating the studio is actually getting to use it myself.

Being able to choose a different backdrop, set myself up with my laptop and spend the day working, interviewing, meeting clients and jumping on Teams calls from a space that feels creative and inspiring… I absolutely love it.

No virtual background required when the real one looks this good. 😉

It’s funny because the studio was created as a space for other people to create content, shoot, film and bring their ideas to life — but it’s also become somewhere I genuinely LOVE working from day-to-day.

A beautiful workspace really does change your energy.

And if my Teams background happens to look slightly extra in the process… well, I can live with that. 😂✨

✌️ July… we’ll take that as a win.

If you’ve ever worked in recruitment, you’ll know the July fortnight can be a funny one. Holidays kick in, diaries become a game of Tetris, decision-makers disappear, and the market can feel like it’s taken its foot off the pedal.

But the second half of the month?

It’s been brilliant.

We’ve got interview boards full again, offers being made, new client meetings in the diary, exciting conversations with prospective partners, and the whole team has been absolutely flying. It’s fantastic to see the momentum build again.

On top of that, Recra Studio is officially open! 🎉 Seeing people already using the space has made all the hard work worthwhile, and with Studio Two now underway, there’s even more to look forward to over the coming months.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a month without a few challenges…

For me, it’s not enough hours in the day (although I secretly thrive on being busy!) and navigating life with a little girl who has firmly decided that only one outfit is acceptable to wear… every… single… day. 😂

Please tell me I’m not the only parent whose washing machine revolves around one favourite outfit?!

All in all, I couldn’t be prouder of what the team has achieved this month. It’s been a reminder that consistency pays off, momentum returns, and exciting things happen when everyone keeps moving in the same direction.

Here’s to carrying this energy into August. 🚀

There’s something pretty special about filming content in a space that started as an idea and is now a reality.

Over the last few months, every bit of work on the studio has been done outside of business hours because I was determined that building this alongside Recra would never impact the service we give our clients. That commitment was really important to me.

A huge thank you to Ash for all the hard work in bringing my vision to life.

Recra Studio was created because I genuinely believe every business and individual deserves access to a professional, creative space where they can build a bank of content that works for them all year round. Whether it’s videos, photography, podcasts, training sessions or personal branding, it’s a space designed to help people show up with confidence.

Years ago I managed model studios and absolutely loved it. After recently hiring a content studio myself, I had one of those lightbulb moments… why am I not creating this myself?

Now it’s here, and seeing it being used for my own content feels like a real full-circle moment.

I can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors. ❤️
