✌️ July… we’ll take that as a win.

If you’ve ever worked in recruitment, you’ll know the July fortnight can be a funny one. Holidays kick in, diaries become a game of Tetris, decision-makers disappear, and the market can feel like it’s taken its foot off the pedal.

But the second half of the month?

It’s been brilliant.

We’ve got interview boards full again, offers being made, new client meetings in the diary, exciting conversations with prospective partners, and the whole team has been absolutely flying. It’s fantastic to see the momentum build again.

On top of that, Recra Studio is officially open! 🎉 Seeing people already using the space has made all the hard work worthwhile, and with Studio Two now underway, there’s even more to look forward to over the coming months.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a month without a few challenges…

For me, it’s not enough hours in the day (although I secretly thrive on being busy!) and navigating life with a little girl who has firmly decided that only one outfit is acceptable to wear… every… single… day. 😂

Please tell me I’m not the only parent whose washing machine revolves around one favourite outfit?!

All in all, I couldn’t be prouder of what the team has achieved this month. It’s been a reminder that consistency pays off, momentum returns, and exciting things happen when everyone keeps moving in the same direction.

Here’s to carrying this energy into August. 🚀

There’s something pretty special about filming content in a space that started as an idea and is now a reality.

Over the last few months, every bit of work on the studio has been done outside of business hours because I was determined that building this alongside Recra would never impact the service we give our clients. That commitment was really important to me.

A huge thank you to Ash for all the hard work in bringing my vision to life.

Recra Studio was created because I genuinely believe every business and individual deserves access to a professional, creative space where they can build a bank of content that works for them all year round. Whether it’s videos, photography, podcasts, training sessions or personal branding, it’s a space designed to help people show up with confidence.

Years ago I managed model studios and absolutely loved it. After recently hiring a content studio myself, I had one of those lightbulb moments… why am I not creating this myself?

Now it’s here, and seeing it being used for my own content feels like a real full-circle moment.

I can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors. ❤️

There’s something powerful about changing the backdrop… because sometimes that’s all it takes to make your content feel fresh, engaging and truly reflective of your brand.

For years I’ve been creating content wherever I could find a suitable corner, but today felt a little different… ❤️

Today I finally got to film and capture content in our very own Recra Studio.

Having access to multiple beautifully designed backdrops in one space means you can create weeks’ worth of content in just a few hours. Whether you’re building a personal brand, showcasing products, recording podcasts, filming training, or creating social media content, changing the setting instantly gives your audience something new to engage with.

From next week, you’ll be able to hire the studio too! 🎉

It’s been a real labour of love bringing this space to life, and I genuinely can’t wait to see the creativity, businesses and brands that walk through the doors and make it their own.

This is just the beginning… and I couldn’t be more excited to finally share it with you all.

We spend so much time preparing people for interviews… but nobody ever talks about interviewing in a 30°C heatwave. 🥵

The reality is, when you’re too hot, you’re not thinking clearly. You’re uncomfortable, distracted and probably not performing at your best.

So why make an already stressful recruitment process even harder?

In today’s video, I share a few simple ways to work with the weather rather than against it:

☀️ Apply for roles and follow up first thing in the morning or later in the evening, when you’re feeling fresher.

📲 Set up job alerts during the day so opportunities come to you while you’re avoiding the hottest hours.

🎥 If you’re interviewing on Teams, think about your environment. A cool, quiet space with reliable Wi-Fi can make all the difference. Sometimes that isn’t your home office.

🤝 If you’re interviewing in person, don’t be afraid to ask about the dress code or whether the office has air conditioning. You can still look professional without overheating before you’ve even answered the first question.

Recruitment is competitive enough without the weather working against you.

Sometimes it’s the small changes that help you show the very best version of yourself.

There comes a point where you realise that nobody else is coming to make the decisions for you.

Not your teachers.
Not your employer.
Not your family.
Not your critics.

The direction of your life is shaped by the choices you make every single day.

The jobs you apply for.
The risks you take.
The conversations you have.
The people you surround yourself with.
The standards you set for yourself.

It’s easy to hand over the script and let circumstances dictate the next chapter.

It’s harder to take the director’s chair.

To trust yourself.
To back yourself.
To make decisions that align with your values, even when others don’t understand them.

I’ve learned that some of the biggest opportunities in my life and business came from decisions that felt uncomfortable at the time.

Growth rarely arrives with certainty.

But it does arrive when you choose courage over comfort.

Be intentional.

Be accountable.

Be the director of your own story.

There are calls you make in recruitment…
and then there are those calls.

The ones where you already know, before they answer, that you’re about to change someone’s life.

This week this has happened on multiple occasions...

Dialling a number knowing you’re about to tell someone:
👉 “You got the job.”
👉 “They chose you.”
👉 “You smashed it’’

And for a moment, everything else stops.

Just that pause…
That silence before it lands…
Then the emotion on the other end of the phone.

That’s the bit people don’t talk about enough.

Recruitment isn’t just CVs and interviews.
It’s people. Real people.
With mortgages, families, confidence knocks, big ambitions, and sometimes… a lot riding on one decision.

We get a front row seat to that.

And when you do it properly, When you actually care, That call never gets old.

It’s not just a placement.
It’s a moment.

And honestly?
It’s why I still love what I do. ❤️

Earlier in my career, I thought success meant saying yes to everything.
Every opportunity.
Every client.
Every role.

But experience teaches you something different.

It teaches you that real growth comes when you become selective.
When you protect your time.
When you work with people who align with your values.
When you focus on quality over noise.

Because not every opportunity is the right opportunity.
And not every partnership is built to last.

These days, I’m more focused than ever on long-term relationships, honest conversations, and doing recruitment the right way — even when it’s not the fastest way.
