Yesterday, I attended the Firefly Hub Ltd Leeds networking morning gathering at Santander WorkCafé UK in Leeds.

It is always great to see regular members and new faces, learning about other businesses, whilst making new connections, whislt support our charity partner Candlelighters Trust with Samantha Williams will too, with kind raffle prize donations including Art work, a Christmas hamper and a 3 month complimentary membership to Firefly Hub Ltd.

With a great presentation from Arminder Purewal and the benefits of joining the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), to Tom Ellerby talking all things IT, and Tracey Cleminson explanation the important of marketing including personal branding! It great morning session.

Tomorrow, I will be hosting the York Firefly Group Delta Hotels by Marriott York, between 7.30am - 9am, with time still to attend as a guest, or if you fancy coming along to the Leeds group at Santander WorkCafé UK on Park Place, the next session is next Thursday 15th October 2026 between 8am - 9.30am.

Yesterday, 27-09-2026 A new milestone was achieved 🙌.

My 1st year wedding anniversary with my lovley husband Duncan, how on earth has 12 months gone already! 🤵‍♂️💍🤵‍♂️

With our wedding day still feeling as it wasn’t that long ago, it was a time of reflection, with both of us having endured ups and downs in both personal and business life, with business challenges and successes, loss of some very dear family and friends and new life being brought into the world, our commitment to each other hasn’t faltered, and our strength has only grown a stronger, with each others continued and unwavering support for we what do best.

Having someone who is your life partner and a fellow business owner to share the challenges and successes, frustrations and laughter, is not something I thought I would have in my early 40’s, but here we are and couldn’t be happier. 🙂

From starting off in hospitality in my teenager years, to moving into high street recruitment, in my late 20’s, to then combining my experience, skills and passion for both industries in my 30’s, today, I couldn’t be happier with where we are at with P.J Staffing Ltd, the community it has built around it, the stories it tells, and the support and value we are able give both candidates and clients within the industries I love to thrive in, and long may it continue. 🙌

I’m really looking forward to the future, continuing to learn, develop and share expertise over the coming months, and going into 2027.

Last week, it was an absolutely honour to support the Summer Social with the on the River Ouse. ♒🛳️

Connecting with local hospitality business from across York, learning more about the venues and offerings, their successes over summer, and their autumn & winter plans with many discussions on people’s views on very hot topic on the guaranteed hours proposal as business owners, recruitment, and hospitality perspectives.

A great community of local hospitality professionals, supporting one and other, and what a better way than on the River Ouse, with City Cruises UK with a cheeky drink thanks to Lillet Spritz and fish and chips, courtesy of Andrew AKA Mr Chippy! ☀️🥗🍷🍻

Today, PJ Staffing are at the Hedley Verity for Leeds University freshers fair, chatting all things cleaning, catering & hospitality roles across Leeds and Yorkshire.

Looking forward to this weekend, with a relaxed race meeting with the Family Day at with The Gruffalo, I literally needed to Google who he was! Don’t judge! 🫣

Our teams will be onsite form tomorrow to ensure the racecourse is a clean, safe and welcoming environment for racegoers and their families to enjoy a proper day out at the racecourse on Sunday 🏇🌞

It’s also the last chance over weekend for local businesses across York and North Yorkshire to nominate their business or someone they know in the Yorkmix Choice Awards 2026, it is FREE to enter and every business has a opportunity to be voted through to the 2nd stage by the public vote, with the final 6 in each category being announced on the 29th October at The Milner York.

That’s a wrap for EBOR festival 2026 at 🌍 🏇 ✨

I’m incredibly proud of what our teams have accomplished over the EBOR Festival 2026, in a recap, P.J Staffing:

💫 Provided over 275 Agency workers.
💫 Had an operational supervisor team of 18 people.
💫Covered over 800 shifts, with 8 different teams and roles.
💫Maintained high standards of cleanliness across York Racecourse
💫Provided a 24-hour cleaning operation from Wednesday morning through to Saturday night.
💫Smashed a Bar target with our superb bar team on Saturday, with an exceptional Head Bar.
💫Our teams walked 1000’s of miles, with my own personal steps, well over 75 miles over the week.
💫Had Digital branding across the finish line, which looked fab.
💫Onboarding 4 great new clients.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and helped deliver a memorable week, whilst ensuring exceptional service and a clean welcoming environment was maintained all week to racegoers throughout the festival. 🙏

Credit to our suppliers, Jon Handley at AB Print Group Ltd for provided us with our new branded uniform, which looked on point, smart and professional all week, and of course, Jamie Ndlovu at J’s Travel for getting our teams to and from the racecourse safely with their coaches, your team were brilliant. 🙌 😊

Lastly, thank you, to our amazing recruitment manager, Pippa Carrington, for the long hours and hard work put in, recruitment & onboarding, keeping the office running and ensuring the check ins were running smoothly, keeping attendance up past 98%+.

That’s a wrap for EBOR Festival 2026, now we turn to another few busy weeks ahead, whilst planning our Autumn/Winter season.
