Looking forward to this weekend, with a relaxed race meeting with the Family Day at with The Gruffalo, I literally needed to Google who he was! Don’t judge! 🫣

Our teams will be onsite form tomorrow to ensure the racecourse is a clean, safe and welcoming environment for racegoers and their families to enjoy a proper day out at the racecourse on Sunday 🏇🌞

That’s a wrap for EBOR festival 2026 at 🌍 🏇 ✨

I’m incredibly proud of what our teams have accomplished over the EBOR Festival 2026, in a recap, P.J Staffing:

💫 Provided over 275 Agency workers.
💫 Had an operational supervisor team of 18 people.
💫Covered over 800 shifts, with 8 different teams and roles.
💫Maintained high standards of cleanliness across York Racecourse
💫Provided a 24-hour cleaning operation from Wednesday morning through to Saturday night.
💫Smashed a Bar target with our superb bar team on Saturday, with an exceptional Head Bar.
💫Our teams walked 1000’s of miles, with my own personal steps, well over 75 miles over the week.
💫Had Digital branding across the finish line, which looked fab.
💫Onboarding 4 great new clients.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and helped deliver a memorable week, whilst ensuring exceptional service and a clean welcoming environment was maintained all week to racegoers throughout the festival. 🙏

Credit to our suppliers, Jon Handley at AB Print Group Ltd for provided us with our new branded uniform, which looked on point, smart and professional all week, and of course, Jamie Ndlovu at J’s Travel for getting our teams to and from the racecourse safely with their coaches, your team were brilliant. 🙌 😊

Lastly, thank you, to our amazing recruitment manager, Pippa Carrington, for the long hours and hard work put in, recruitment & onboarding, keeping the office running and ensuring the check ins were running smoothly, keeping attendance up past 98%+.

This weekend! 🙌🏽🙂🌍

Our teams were across:

From pre clean and regular cleans, to festival litter picking ,festival stock runners & bar staff, and a wedding at a priory estate in between, it was sure a busy weekend at P.J Staffing Ltd

Early check ins and late check outs, travelling logistics, visiting clients on site, working alongside the teams, it’s what I really do love the most about staffing and recruitment, seeing everything come to plan and delivering excellence to our clients, whilst seeing our teams enjoying the work they do! 🙂

This week we turn our focus to the world renowned EBOR festival 2026 at York Racecourse , with teams already on site with pre racing cleaning checks to ensure the racecourse is spotless and sparkling, whilst ensure it’s safe and welcoming to racegoers when gates open on Wednesday morning.🏇🌍

For me, this one feels like a natural fit.

The awards celebrate local businesses across York and North Yorkshire - voted for by the people who use them, not a panel of judges. That’s the same principle we’ve built P.J Staffing on. You’ve got to put in what you want to get out of it, and if the people you’re working with don’t rate what you do, you know about it pretty quickly.

A lot of the businesses that’ll be nominated are ones that we support within our sector - hospitality venues, event operators, caterers. The same people we’re supplying staff to during their busiest times during summer festivals or Christmas parties and everything in-between. We’ve been there, done it, worn the t-shirt when it comes to race days, festivals, corporate events. So supporting the awards that recognise them just makes sense. ✨

Absolutely honoured that P.J Staffing Ltd has been chosen as Candlelighters Trust Company of the Month, and here is why! 💞

Every year, over 150 children in Yorkshire are diagnosed with cancer.

That’s not a statistic. That’s 150 families whose lives turn upside down the moment they hear those words.

When a child gets diagnosed, life doesn’t pause. Bills still arrive. One parent often stops working to be at hospital. Families lose an average of £730 a month - before you account for what that does to everything else.

steps in where the system can’t. Talking therapy. Accommodation at The Cottage so parents don’t choose between their sick child’s bedside and going home to siblings. Financial grants. Free food at Leeds Children’s Hospital. Research funding - over £9 million in 20 years - to make treatment less brutal for kids.

They receive no government funding. Every service exists because people choose to give. 💞

We became a Guardian Supporter in April 2025 because it was the right thing to do. Since April last year, our team - staff, supervisors, clients - have raised over £23,290 to date. Not for recognition. Because 150 families a year in our region shouldn’t face the worst moments alone.

Our Pink It Up event raised £7,000 in Leeds last June. This year we’re took it across Leeds, and York with a Target: £10,000. Not because round numbers look impressive - because every thousand pounds funds more nights of accommodation, more hours of support, more research into better treatments.

There’s something powerful about hospitality looking after people when it matters most. When you see bar staff wearing pink, asking customers to donate, getting behind it - that’s the community showing up.

We’ve committed through 2027. Not a one-off. Three years of sustained partnership.

Why our strap line "providing great people" isn't just what we do - it's the only thing that matters.

I started in hospitality at 14. Worked hotel floors, night porter, bar supervisor, waiter. I've been the person waiting for agency staff to turn up. I've covered when they didn't. I've watched someone sent by an agency struggle through a shift they weren't ready for - and seen the fallout.

So when we built P.J Staffing Ltd, I made one decision early: we don't send people I wouldn't work alongside myself. That's not a tagline. It's the filter.

➡️ Here's what that actually means:

We pre-vet for experience, not just availability. If someone says they can pull a pint, I'll know in the conversation whether that's true. You learn that from doing it yourself for years, not from reading a CV.

We overbook every shift by 5–10%. Sounds counterintuitive, but it's the only way to guarantee 98% + attendance. Clients don't want explanations when someone doesn't show - they want the shift covered.

For the larger events, we're on site. I'm there before staff arrive, during the event, sometimes after.

If something goes wrong, which they can and do, I'm dealing with it face-to-face, not from an office. You can't do that unless you trust the people you've sent.

➡️ The bit most agencies miss:
Great people stay when you look after them. 80% of our supervisors return season after season. Some of our workers have been with our side for 5–7 years. That doesn't happen by accident - it happens because we treat people like people, not numbers on a rota.

Racing Superstar recognition. Annual staff party. Coaches organised so no one's figuring out how to get to a racecourse at 6am. Small things that aren't small when you're the one turning up to work.

And when those people come back year after year, our clients get consistency. Staff who know the site, know the standards, know what good looks like. That's the advantage competitors can't replicate - because most agencies don't operate this way.

➡️ One last thing:
Reputation moves faster than marketing in this industry. Send the wrong person once, you don't get called back. Send the right person consistently, and you become the first call.

Leeds Pride 2026.

P.J Staffing Ltd are annual proud sponsors of Blayds Bar at Leeds Pride, supporting with staffing for the outdoor bar, staff uniforms, the main stage, and generally supporting the venue across the weekend. Not because it looked good for the business. Because it’s personal.

This year, whilst Leeds Pride celebrated its 20th Anniversary, my husbands Bar, Blayds Bar held its 19th Anniversary, with 2027 will see 20 years of Blayds, continuing being a safe space for Leeds’ LGBTQIA+ community longer than PJ Staffing’s existed.

For me, Pride isn’t a marketing opportunity. It’s about visibility. Inclusion. Being honest about who you are and who matters to you. Duncan and I don’t hide that we’re married. We don’t separate “business Paul” from “personal Paul.” Actions speak louder than words – I’ve said that before, I’ll keep saying it.

If you’re going to say “people first,” you need to mean it when it’s uncomfortable. When it costs something. When it’s about more than your own people.

Leeds Pride matters because spaces like Blayds matter. They’ve survived when they shouldn’t have had to fight to. The least we can do is be visible right back.

Here’s to a successful Leeds Pride 2026, and thank you to all our staff that supported Blayds, including our own cleaners and bar staff and a huge thanks to all the Artists, DJ’s and sound support, you made it one of the best Prides yet!

On Wednesday, myself and Pippa were absolutely honoured to have been invited to some of our great people’s graduation over at the University of Bradford. 🧑‍🎓

It was absolutley privilege seeing so many talented people graduate from project planning to space engineering with many of our own staff being awarded their degrees. 🙌🏽🧑‍🎓

What made this day special was some of our people’s families were not able to attend in person due to living back in their very own home country, so they asked us, you could clearly see how important it meant to them and will cherish the day for a very long time.

PJ Staffing isn’t just another staffing agency, we are a stop gap whilst studying, a stepping stone before they decide their next career step and family to many of our people.

Whilst we do have the honour of retaining many of the graduates until end of season, I can’t wait to see the progress and future steps they decide to take with their degrees.

A huge congratulations to everyone and thank you for letting us be part of your special day. 🙂

As we approach halfway through the season, it seems Fridays are coming around quicker every week.! 🕰️ Good job we love what we do! 🙂

Last weekend, we had various smaller events on, following a busy summer Saturday, including Roundhay Park Festival, where-we had an ace team of litter pickers ensuring the park grounds were litter free Friday through to Sunday, whilst enjoying some summer music at Roundhay. ☀️🎤🎼

Today, P.J Staffing are back at for the 67th John Smith cup, as well as other venues this weekend, providing a range of staff and skill sets from:

➡️ Bin operatives
