A cautionary tale for candidates. Over the weekend, we had more than 250 applications for an Accounts Assistant role. A great response, of course, but there was one thing which really stood out:

A large number of the CVs were almost identical.
Same phrases. Same structure. Same slightly polished and rather generic wording.

It was quite clear that many had been created or heavily rewritten using AI.
Now, I am not against using AI to help with a CV - It can be a really useful tool for improving structure, checking clarity and making sure key experience is covered well.

However, it shouldn't replace your own voice, your own achievements, or the specific details that help the recipient understand what you have actually done.

When 50 CVs all sound the same, it becomes much harder for anyone to stand out.

The strongest CVs are still the ones which feel personal, accurate and genuinely reflective of the individual behind them.

If you are using AI to help with your CV, use it carefully. Treat it as a support tool, not a substitute for your own experience.
