The UK Government's consultation on proposed changes to zero-hours and low-hours contracts has now closed, with reforms expected to come into force from 2027.
The proposals are designed to provide workers with greater security and predictability and could have a significant impact on businesses that rely on flexible labour, particularly within the agriculture and rural sectors.
Key proposals include:
โ
Offering guaranteed hours in certain circumstances
โ
Providing reasonable notice of shifts
โ
Compensation where shifts are cancelled or changed at short notice

Ringlink has worked alongside industry partners to respond to the consultation and will continue to monitor developments, keeping members updated as more information becomes available.
