The EAADPL League Singles and presentation day were held in Shooters Pool and Sports Bar Kilmarnock on Sunday.
The League Singles event was held in memory of our members , Neil Gillespie and Gibby McDonald who sadly passed during the season.
The tournament was played in good spirit with some great pool on show and resulted in the Final being contested by Geo Edgar and Lucas Bryden , two of not only Ayrshires finest talents but Scotlands.
On route to the final Lucas played Ryan Gilmour in his first match resulting in a 6-2 victory to then draw Kenny Erskine in the next round playing some unbelievable pool and Lucas ran out a 6-3 winner , with Kenny missing literally only a couple of balls in the match.
In next round it was a battle of the ages with young Lucas taking on 5 time Ayrshire Singles champion Wullie Lauchlan, Lucas again had some quality finishes to run out a 6-4 winner to reach the Semi Final where he would meet Johnny Townend who had a fantastic run to the Semi Finals.
In an amazing performance Lucas ran out a 6-0 winner hardly missing a ball in the match to book a place in the Final. There was nothing Johnny could do to prevent the whitewash.

Geo started his tournament with a convincing 6-0 win vs Gary Oneil , he again followed up with another perfect performance and a 6-0 win vs Robert Connolly “Ribsie” this set up a cracking Semi Final vs Jim Mcgeachie who has been playing some brilliant pool himself and had won the Ayrshire Doubles just the day before , but it was Geo who came out on top and won . dropping his first frames of the day in a 6-3 victory , it set up a Final for Geo vs his friend and Doubles partner Lucas.
The Final was between the best two players on the day and was anticipated to be a cracking match , they exchanged frames before Geo took a 3-1 lead and it was always a tough task for Lucas to try and claw it back versus one of Scotlands finest , Geo put distance between the two taking a 5-1 lead and then closed out for a fantastic 6-1 win to secure the title and the trophy 🏆.
Brilliant performance once again from Geo only dropping 4 frames the full day.
On behalf of the East Ayrshire committee I would like to thank Mark and Campbell and the staff at Shooters for supporting us thru the day and providing a brilliant venue for our competitions.
Also like to thank all the League members for taking part in the competitions this season and hopefully everyone has enjoyed it.
Lastly I would like to thank Kenny Erskine , Kevin Walker and Andy Rodger for undertaking their roles and helping run the League , the League wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you.
Thanks again hopefully we see you all again next season.

The EAADPL Doubles was held in Shooters over the past 2 Wednesdays and it was Geo and Lucas who would go on to win the event beating Tommy and Gary “Dom” in the final 6-2.
Geo and Lucas probably favourites in most peoples eyes before the tournament started, turned in a brilliant performance throughout and only dropped a total of 3 frames.
Geo already cemented as one of Scotlands best players alongside Lucas one of the best young players coming thru started with a 4-0 win vs Higgy and Ryan and followed that up with a 4-1 win vs 2 fellow Scottish Internationals in Mark and Stevie , taking them thru to a Semi Final vs Kenny and Kwini again winning 4-0 to set up the Final vs Tommy and Gary.

Tommy and Gary’s route to the final started with a 4-1 win vs Dougie and Cammy and followed that with a similar 4-1 win vs Graeme and Robert that took them into the Semi Final where they beat Jonny and Kevin 4-2 taking them into a Final against friends and teammates Geo and Lucas.
It was to be Geo and Lucas who became champions 🏆 with a 6-2 win ,
worthy winners who I’m sure would give any 2 players in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 a great game.
Congratulations to Tommy and Gary also for reaching the Final.

Thanks to Mark and Campbell at Shooters Pool and Sports Bar Kilmarnock for hosting the event and providing us with a great venue.
The Final event of the Season the League Singles and presentation day is on Sunday May the 24th and will also be held in Shooters.
Thanks also to Kenny and Kevin for helping to run the tournament in my absence.

As some people will already be aware we lost Neil Gillespie today , who has passed after a battle against serious illness.
Neil was past Chairman of the League and continued to support the League returning after an absence as a player and team Captain in the last two seasons.
Neil won nearly every honour in the game on an individual basis and also as a team member and team Captain.
As a Captain he surrounded himself with brilliant players and that’s a testament to the respect he had in the local pool scene to be able to get that calibre of player to join him.
He was a winner and a fierce competitor and I’m sure he would have fought his illness to the end.
Our thoughts are with Neil’s family and friends at this sad time.

EAADPL League Singles and Prize giving was held in Shooters Pool and Sports Bar Kilmarnock on Sunday 30th March.
First of all I would like to thank Mark and Campbell for providing us with a great venue at Shooters Kilmarnock and also for the kind sponsorship of the 3 League events, for the event on Sunday I would like to thank Scott behind the bar for keeping all the players refreshed during the day.
Also like to thank every player and team Captains for their efforts over the season.
Special mention to the committee Andy Rodger the Treasurer , for again looking after the League funds and making it easy for everyone to make any payments, Kevin Walker for running the App perfectly and providing help and information whenever asked, nothing was ever a problem and finally Kenny Erskine who done so much this season behind the scenes providing great help to myself with the general running of the League and also along with Steven Gibson selecting and Captaining our Supers A and B teams to the national events. Thanks guys.

The League singles draw gave us some cracking matches resulting in Neil Gillespie and myself making it thru to the Final.
Neil won the deciding frame to beat Wullie Lauchlan 5-4 in his last 16 match
Neil then followed up with a brilliant 5-1 win over Jim Mcgeachie in his quarter final a fantastic result against one of the best players in the league.
In the Semi it was a battle of the ages with Neil playing young Stevie McCormick who had a great 5-1 win vs Callum McKinnon in his quarter final , but experience came thru and it was Neil who made it to the final with a 5-2 victory.
In the other half of the draw I played Gavin Logan a new player and great addition to the League this season in the qualifying round and in a scrappy match that could have went either way I got thru 5-2.
In the last 16 I was drawn vs Tommy Kenny who only recently got into the 8ball game coming over from the snooker and looks to have adapted well already , I went into a 4-2 lead before Tommy levelled the match 4-4 , fortunately I had the break in last frame and dished to scrape thru 5-4.
In the quarters it was a good friend I was drawn against in Daniel Scrimegour and had to play really well to win 5-1.
In the Semi Final it was ”The Viking” Alan McLaren and in a close match that again could have went either way at 3-3 I took the final 2 frames to make it 5-3 and made it thru to the Final vs Neil.
The Final….
Neil Gillespie vs Ally Mair
Up against multiple winner Neil a good start in the Final was required and I managed to get into a 3-0 lead and that gave me the confidence to go on and close out the match 5-1 and win the title.
East Ayrshire And District Pool League Singles 🏆 2024-25
Winner : Ally Mair
Runner Up : Neil Gillespie

On behalf of the committee thanks to everyone who took part this season hopefully we will see you all again for next season where we hope to build on the current teams and make a bigger and stronger League.
Thanks from Ally and the EAADPL

The EAADPL season finished with the Shooters Hotshots 🔥 winning the League by a commanding 12 points , an outstanding performance that left the remaining teams chasing 2nd place.
Stevie and his team took an early lead in the table and never looked back losing only 3 matches all season and racking up an impressive 49pts.
The shootout for 2nd came down to a battle between the Pyramid Red Pandas and the Eagles, a strong run from the turn of the year for the Pyramid had them clinching 2nd spot by 2pts leaving the Eagles 3rd.
The remaining positions were filled by Watersports in 4th Mauchline A 5th and Mauchline B 6th.
Again I believe for such a small league the quality is great and this has been proved by the players representing the League at the Super 11’s and 15’s having great runs at these events.
I think and hope most players will agree that the League is run in the correct way and they have all enjoyed their season.
This summer we hope to add some new teams to create a bigger and stronger League.
Once again congratulations to Stevie and his Hotshots team brilliant League Champions.

East Ayrshire And District Pool League Doubles was held in Shooters Pool and Sports Bar, Kilmarnock on Sunday 16th March.
Thanks to all the teams that entered and congratulations to Geo Edgar and Lucas Bryden becoming Doubles Champions for 2025.
They started the tournament with a hard fought deciding frame win 6-5 vs Campbell Dunlop and Jonny Townend in a quality match they edged out their Shooters Hotshots teammates in a one frame shootout to progress thru to the Quarter Finals where they met Kaitlyn Kennedy and Kenny Erskine running out 7-1 winners with a quality performance.
In the Semi Finals they met the father and son pairing of Alan and Aiyden McLaren , Geo and Lucas ran out 7-0 winners in a one sided match to progress to the Final but I would like to give a special mention to young Aiyden, who played great all day never looked out of place and if he continues to put the effort and hard work in will have a future in the 8ball game.
Well done Alan and Aiyden on your brilliant run to the Semi Finals.
In the other half of the draw it was Jim Mcgeachie and Steven McCormick who progressed to the Final.
They won 7-4 in the Quarter Finals where in a tough match they beat Callum McKinnon and James Higgins to set up a Semi Final vs Jim McKay and Mark Smith who had played well and fought hard to make the Semi’s the 7-4 score line mirrored the Quarter Final and it was Jim and Steven who progressed to meet Geo and Lucas in the Final.
The two best teams on the day met in the Final, in a match that could go either way it was Geo and Lucas that started well and never looked back winning 7-1 with a fantastic performance to claim the title.
Congratulations to Geo and Lucas the EAADPL Doubles Champions.
Unlucky Jim and Stevie our Runners Up.
I would like to thank Mark McAllister and Campbell Dunlop for hosting and sponsoring the event and also thanks to all the staff in Shooters who took care of the players on the day.
The League Singles will also be held in Shooters on Sunday the 30th March hopefully we will again see you all then.
On behalf of the committee I would like to say thanks to all the players who took part and to our hosts Shooters Pool and Sports Bar
Regards Ally
