I come back to first principles. Not targets, not tactics. Values.

When I was at school, I worked after hours in a fish and chip shop. It was proper Scouseland territory. Busy. Noisy. Full of warmth and wit. โ€œAlright, love?โ€ โ€œSalt and vinegar?โ€ โ€œGo on, la.โ€

One evening my boss whispered, โ€œYou give too many chips you know.โ€

He was right. If someone looked like they could do with a few more, Iโ€™d add them.

So when the next customer arrived, I gave fewer. They looked at the portion and said, โ€œEh love, Iโ€™m not on a dietโ€

My boss, always supervising leaned over my shoulder and said, โ€œYou should give a few more than that.โ€

To the business: protect the margin. To the customer: be generous.

I was fourteen. And I was the one who felt ashamed.

Years later, in corporate Executive Search, I felt the same tension. A premium story on the outside. Much tighter realities behind the scenes. Grand promises to clients. Not always the resource or space to deliver the quality those promises deserved.

Once again, I was the one standing between the story and reality.

Hall Way exists because of that.

I wanted a business where what is promised can genuinely be delivered.

Where there is no need to perform abundance while living in scarcity.

Where I donโ€™t have to be one thing to the client and another behind the curtain.

Yes, I am generous in how I work. But I would rather give than pretend. I would rather build something clean than something clever. I would rather be whole than compromised.

So as the year gets started, Iโ€™ll keep doing business the Hall Way. With one face, one story and one standard.
