When we carry out a home clean in Guildford, mopping forms a significant part of the work.

It is, in fairness, an ancient discipline. The word “mop” appears in English as early as 1496 and the design has altered remarkably little in the intervening five centuries. The wringer - the lever that draws the water out of the head was not patented until 1893.

There is, therefore, no magic tool. The difference between a floor that is properly clean and one that is merely wet comes down to clean water, changed often and a cleaner who understands which surfaces will tolerate a more moisture and which will not.

Saturday is National Relaxation Day.

We know there seems to be a day for everything now, and we try not to mention them all - but this one stopped us, because it's more or less what our clients pay us for.

Come Saturday, their beds are fresh, the worktops are clear and there's nothing on the list. That's not a national day. That's just how their weekend starts.

After every clean, we ask our clients for their feedback - on the very same day, while the experience is still fresh.

The vast majority of the feedback we receive is five stars, often accompanied by lovely comments like this one. It’s always wonderful to hear that we’ve made a difference and particularly rewarding when our clients take the time to recognise the members of our team who deliver that service every day.

But feedback isn’t only about the five stars.

It also gives our clients the opportunity to tell us if there is something we could have done better. When those comments come in, we act on them straight away.
