📝 CV TIP #05 – Don't let your contact details play hide and seek!
Your phone number and email address might not be the most exciting part of your CV, but they're some of the most important. If a recruiter must embark on a treasure hunt to contact you, you've already made the process harder than it needs to be!
📞 Keep your phone number current – You'd be surprised how many outdated numbers still make it onto CVs.
📧 Use a professional email address – Ideally something simple like [email protected].
📍 Include your general location – Listing your city (rather than your full address) helps recruiters quickly identify suitable opportunities while maintaining your privacy.
These small details make a big difference. A clear, up-to-date CV means recruiters can spend less time searching for your contact details and more time calling you about your next opportunity!

One of the biggest mistakes we see on CV's is candidates listing just responsibilities instead of achievements.

Compare these:
❌ "Responsible for managing a team"
✅ "Managed and motivated a team of 8, improving productivity by 20%"

❌ "Worked on increasing sales"
✅ "Increased sales by 35% in 6 months, generating an additional £250k in revenue"

The second examples tell a story.

They demonstrate impact, results and value.

When writing your CV, ask yourself:
❓ What difference did I make?
❓ What did I improve?
❓ What did I achieve?
❓ Can I quantify it?

Employers don't just want to know what you job was.

If your CV is too long, important information gets lost.

Recruiters often scan a CV before properly reading it.

Keeping your CV clear, concise and relevant gives you a much better chance of standing out.

For most people:
✅ 2 pages is ideal
✅ 3 pages maximum

Recruiters care most about what you are doing NOW or most recently. Your most recent role should always appear first on your CV.

A recruiter should be able to quickly see:
✅ Your current role
✅ Your latest experience
✅ Your most relevant skills.

Keeping your CV in reverse chronological order makes it easier to read and easier to shortlist. Drawing a recruiter's eye to these important roles, the ones most relevant to what you are applying for can set you apart from other candidates, where their most relevant experience may be missed.

Simple changes can make a huge difference. Reworking your CV to appeal best to a recruiter or employer could be the difference between getting to the next stage.
