Here are some of the things you can do to enhance the success of your application...

📝 Tailor your CV:
You’ll find keywords you can highlight within your CV in the job ad. For example, if they’re asking for a specific skill that you have, make sure it is included in your CV. Or if they list a responsibility you do in your current role, make sure it's included.

🔎 Research the company:
Research the company to ensure it aligns with your values. You can showcase this a little in your CV, usually in the opening paragraph/profile. You want to ensure you’re highlighting how you and the business are a good fit.

🤝 Network:
Networking can provide insights into the company culture, and it may lead to referrals, and valuable connections that could lead to job openings.

🤗 Work with a recruitment agency:
Recruiters can help you in your job search, recommend you to clients, and take some of the hard work off your hands. There is no harm in speaking with a recruiter to see what suitable jobs they have.

It’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week!

About 15-20% of the population has a neurological difference.

A lack of understanding of how to support neurodiversity in the workplace can make it harder for neurodivergent candidates to find work.

❓ Have you put in place any adapted recruitment processes for neurodivergent candidates?

Here are some of the things you can do to ensure your hiring process is inclusive…

💻 Ensure your website is accessible to everyone:
Can the text be resized? Can it be navigated using a keyboard? Do any images have alternative text?

📝 Provide an alternative application process:
Allow candidates to supplement their CV with a short video, or an audio file, rather than a cover letter. And avoid requiring extensive answers to a questionnaire type application.

🔎 Review your job descriptions:
Are any of the terms you’re using inaccessible? E.g. using jargon or acronyms specific to a certain field/industry. Are you using bias language?

🤝 Alternative interview options:
Provide questions for all before the interview to allow each person time to prepare and reflect on their answers. And for individuals who have difficulty traveling to an in-person interview, offer alternative options (if the role allows).

In summary, designing and implementing inclusive hiring processes provides an equal opportunity for everyone, promoting diversity and inclusion. Which in turn reduces biases, and creates a positive and productive work environment.
