Last week, NatQuest was honoured to participate in the Kuwait Procurement Summit 2026, held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Kuwait, where our Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Salisu Uba, FCIPS, delivered a keynote address and served as a panel member.
In his keynote presentation, “When Procurement Stops Thinking: AI and the Leadership Crisis in Digital Transformation,” Dr Uba addressed a critical issue facing the global procurement profession — the widening gap between technological capability and leadership readiness.
Drawing on NatQuest’s industry research and transformation work, he highlighted the emerging Digital Transformation Paradox: while organisations continue to invest in advanced digital tools, many fail to redefine decision-making models, governance structures, and value creation frameworks. As reflected in our recent analysis, the challenge is not technological scarcity, but a leadership vacuum in navigating AI adoption responsibly and strategically .
The keynote emphasised three core principles:
• AI transformation is fundamentally different from traditional digital transformation.
• Intelligent systems require human oversight, ethical governance, and strategic courage.
• Procurement leaders must redesign how decisions are made, not simply automate existing inefficiencies.
During the panel session on “The Future of Digital Procurement – Harnessing Technology for Smarter, Faster, and More Transparent Operations,” Dr Uba shared NatQuest’s practical experience in deploying AI-driven solutions that enhance transparency, reduce bias, and accelerate evaluation processes. These principles underpin OpenTender.AI, our purpose-built platform designed to streamline RFx management, automate compliance validation, and deliver measurable efficiency gains .
The discussions at the Summit reinforced a central message: the future of procurement will be shaped not merely by technology, but by leaders who understand how to govern and integrate intelligent systems responsibly.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the organisers, fellow speakers, and procurement leaders who contributed to a thoughtful and forward-looking dialogue.
At NatQuest, we remain committed to redefining procurement and supply chain management by connecting people, data, and intelligent systems to deliver sustainable strategic value.
