Junior BI Developer

Location: North Lanarkshire, ML1 4UF
Salary: ÂŁ30,000 per annum
Contract: Full time, Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week

Enable is a dynamic and vibrant organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people with additional support requirements, and we are looking for a motivated Junior BI Developer (Power BI) to join our Digital Team.

The Digital Team supports Enable across three key areas: Infrastructure and Data, Change, and Service Desk. This role will sit within the Infrastructure and Data area, helping to build Enable’s data and reporting capability across the organisation.

This is a development opportunity for someone with a strong interest in data, reporting and Power BI who wishes to build a career in data engineering. Initially, the role will focus on developing, maintaining and modernising Power BI reports and dashboards, improving legacy reports, and supporting the delivery of our reporting backlog.

The post holder will help prepare, cleanse, structure and document data so that managers and operational teams can access reliable information in a clear and consistent format. The role is not about making business decisions on behalf of managers, but about ensuring the data and reporting outputs are accurate, understandable and fit for purpose.

Over time, the successful candidate will gain exposure to Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, data pipelines and wider data engineering concepts, working closely with the current Data Engineer and wider Digital Team.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, solving practical reporting problems, improving existing reports and developing their skills in a supportive technical environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who is curious, detail-focused and keen to develop a career in data and reporting. You do not need to be an experienced Data Engineer, but you should have a genuine interest in working with structured data and building reliable reporting outputs for business users.

You should have experience or knowledge of:

• Building reports or dashboards using Power BI or a similar reporting tool
• Working with structured data and preparing it for reporting
• Using Excel confidently, including cleaning, organising and checking data
• Basic SQL querying or a willingness to develop SQL skills
• Power Query or similar data transformation tools
• Combining data from multiple sources
• Documenting processes clearly and accurately
• Explaining data outputs to non-technical colleagues

• Working with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements
• Managing workload, priorities and deadlines

You will be someone who has strong attention to detail, understands the importance of accurate reporting, and is comfortable working with colleagues who may not be data or digitally literate.

It would be beneficial, but not essential, if you have experience or awareness of:

• Azure SQL
• Azure Data Factory
• Data modelling principles
• HR, Payroll, Finance or workforce management system data
• Data warehousing or ETL concepts
• APIs or third-party system data
• The social care sector or learning disability services

Most importantly, we are looking for someone with the right mindset: someone who is willing to learn, asks good questions, takes care with accuracy, and wants to grow into a data engineering career over time.

About Us

At Enable we believe in developing all our staff and we provide an extensive learning programme together with in-house career development opportunities.

Where required, Enable will fully fund SVQ Health and Social Care qualifications – required for SSSC registration.
