Growing Our Own Talent 🌱

Whilst doing their apprenticeship, our apprentices are supported every step of the way, by their teams, managers and the wider Old Station Nursery family.

This lovely feedback from one of our Level 3 Apprentices really captures what our apprenticeships are all about: learning, confidence-building and feeling genuinely supported to succeed.

✨ Apprenticeship Week… but make it a month ✨

It’s Apprenticeship Week this month, but at The Old Station Nursery, one week just isn’t enough.

Throughout the whole month, we’ll be celebrating our incredible apprentices and the progress they’re making every day. We’ll also be sharing more about our partnership with Realise, who support us in delivering high-quality apprenticeship programmes across our nurseries.

A very special day for our Founder, Sarah Steel, OBE 👑🎂

Today is a day to remember, as Sarah attended her investiture ceremony to receive her OBE, and it’s also her birthday!

Sarah’s OBE, awarded in the King’s Birthday Honours 2025, celebrates her incredible dedication to the Early Years sector and her ongoing mission to provide the best start in life for every child.

Sarah’s passion and vision continue to inspire our teams across the UK every day. We couldn’t be prouder to see her work honoured at the highest level, and on such a special day, too.

What a milestone moment! 🥳

We’re thrilled to share that last Tuesday we celebrated our 50th apprentice achiever with Realise and our 100th TOSN apprentice achiever for 2025! 🌟

This is our biggest number of achievers ever, and we couldn’t be prouder! 💪

A huge congratulations to all of our incredible apprentices, your hard work and determination have truly paid off. And of course, a massive thank you to our wonderful nursery teams for their constant support, encouragement, and dedication in helping our apprentices reach their goals. 💖

Nursery Management Today

Earlier this year, we signed the Pregnancy Loss Pledge, a national initiative from the Miscarriage Association.

As part of this, we’ve updated our policies to offer fully paid leave for pregnancy loss at any stage, and increased support for the loss of a child.

Every journey is different, and every team member deserves to be met with care, compassion, and flexibility, especially in life’s hardest moments.

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. We encourage everyone to take a quiet moment to acknowledge the day and offer kindness and support to those who may be affected.

We’ve launched a new partnership that we’re incredibly proud of 💙

The Old Station Nursery has teamed up with The Self Space a brilliant mental health service that helps make every day mental wellness more accessible and stigma-free.

We hope that through this partnership all of our amazing team members will feel the impact of the mental health training and therapeutic support provided via Self Space. Our early years professionals give so much care to others every day and we’re making sure that the same care is extended to them.
