Hi everyone — Ryan here, Owner Events Coordinator at Haven Devon Cliffs 👋

I’ve been part of the Haven family for three years now, and the last year here at Devon Cliffs has genuinely been something special. I originally joined Haven as a Production Cast Vocalist in Entertainment, performing across amazing parks like Hopton, Hafan Y Môr, Blue Dolphin, and spending two magical festive seasons at Rockley Park.

After an incredible journey on stage, I decided it was time for a new challenge — so I moved into the Experience team. I’m now heading into my second season in this role, and honestly… no two days are ever the same! Haven has a way of keeping every day exciting, and I’ve always felt supported, encouraged, and given the tools to grow.

But the best part of working for Haven?
👉 The people.
I’ve met so many brilliant team members over the years who feel more like friends than colleagues. The teamwork, the energy, the laughs — it all creates an atmosphere that makes coming to work a joy. 💙

🌟 LOOKING FOR A CAREER WITH LOADS OF GROWTH, OPPORTUNITIES & FUN? 🌟

Let Phil tell you a little bit about his journey with Haven… 👇

What a rollercoaster my career has been! 🎢

I started back in 2007 at Littlesea Holiday Park in Weymouth as an Assistant Shop Manager — just one season later, an amazing opportunity came up to apply for one of five Starbucks Coffee Shop Manager roles within Haven. ☕✨

Littlesea was chosen, and off I went for 12 weeks of Starbucks training before stepping into the manager role. Within just six months, another door opened… and I became Supermarket Manager! 🛒💥

After two fantastic seasons, I relocated “up north” to Reighton Sands to take on a struggling shop — and with huge effort, teamwork, and some seriously long hours, we completely turned it around. We beat our annual budget by MID-AUGUST (almost unheard of!) and I even won a five‑day, all‑expenses‑paid trip to MIAMI through a sales incentive! 🌴☀️✈️

To top off an unforgettable year, I was awarded Shop Manager of the Year 2010 at the Annual Gala. 🏆

While in Yorkshire, I also took on the Blue Dolphin shop. Two parks, two shops, two brilliant teams! 🙌

In 2013, I got that phone call — the chance to move back south and take over the supermarket and retail at Haven’s flagship park… Devon Cliffs! 🌊🏖️ I said YES instantly (although leaving my Yorkshire team was tough 💙). We smashed the budget in my first year and I came runner‑up for Shop Manager of the Year — an achievement I’m still really proud of.

Fast forward to 2020, Haven restructured and I stepped into a whole new challenge as Head of Activities — looking after pools, activities, entertainment, arcade, and retail. 🎤🏊‍♂️🎮 Every day is different, and I’m still learning… which is exactly why I love it.

💙 Would I recommend Haven to someone who’s ready to work hard, have fun, grow, and build an incredible career? You bet your bottom dollar I would.

19 years on… it’s been an amazing journey, filled with opportunities, challenges, growth, and the most wonderful people. 🌟

My Haven Journey - Coming Full Circle 🔵

🌟 Born and bred in Exmouth, Devon, I still remember my early summer jobs at Devon Cliffs, from working in the beach shop to the famous crazy golf. That’s really where my love for holiday parks first began.

🌟 However, my real Haven journey started back in 2006, when I took on my first managerial role as a Shop Manager at Seashore Holiday Park in Norfolk.
What I initially thought was just a job soon became a career, and over the years I’ve been incredibly lucky to work across five different Haven holiday parks, gaining a huge amount of experience in a wide range of roles along the way.

🌟 From Shop Manager to Owners Experience Manager, and even a short spell covering Complex Manager responsibilities, each role taught me something new about people, operations, leadership, and what really makes a park operate. During my time in Norfolk, life moved just as quickly outside of work. I got married, bought my first house, and started a family. Haven wasn’t just where I worked; it became part of my life journey.

🌟 Years later, while working at Combe Haven in Hastings, balancing work with family life became a little more challenging. With three children and all of our wider family based back in Devon, the opportunity to return home was one I couldn’t pass up. So when the chance came to join Devon Cliffs in 2018 as the Park & Financial Safety Advisor (PFSA), I jumped at it.

🌟 Coming back to Exmouth and becoming part of the Devon Cliffs family has been incredibly special. I’m genuinely proud to work at what I truly believe is the best holiday park in the UK, and there really is nowhere else I’d rather be. I’ve always had a real passion for Health & Safety and Finance, so my current role feels like the perfect fit, bringing together everything I enjoy and allowing me to make a real difference every day.

🌟 What keeps me here is being part of an incredible team 💙, working on a park I’m proud to call home, having a role that constantly challenges me and plays to my strengths, and knowing that the work I do genuinely makes a difference to both our guests and our teams.

🌟 My journey has come full circle in every sense, back home in Exmouth, close to family, and doing a role I genuinely love on a park that means so much to me. I’m proud of how far the journey has taken me, and even prouder of where it’s brought me back to. 👌😊
