This permanent apprenticeship is available immediately. You will be employed by the University of Exeter in an exciting and passionate team within the Operations department of University Sport at our Streatham and St Lukes campuses in Exeter and will be enrolled on the level 2 Leisure Operations with Exeter College.

Through your apprenticeship, you will gain knowledge, practical experience, and develop the skills you need to do this job and to succeed in your career. Your college attendance at Exeter College and any on the job requirements will be supported through workplace training and mentors. Working as part of a team you will be responsible for the efficient, safe operation of three sites and for delivering high standards of service across all facilities. This will include lifeguarding, setups and takedowns of all equipment, supervising the gyms and maintaining the cleanliness of all facilities.

Our early career apprenticeships are aimed at (but not limited to) enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated school/college leavers aged 16 years and above.

Our ideal candidate will have:
At least GCSE Maths and English grade C/4 or above
A willingness to learn, and put into practice, new knowledge, skills and behaviours
A desire to develop both personally and professionally
A positive, can-do, attitude
Good interpersonal and communication skills

This apprenticeship may be at the same level as, or at a lower level than, a qualification you already hold. It should allow you to acquire substantive new skills and the content must be materially different from any prior qualification or a previous apprenticeship.

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will have gained invaluable skills, experience, and there may be opportunities to continue your career working at the University of Exeter.

This fixed-term apprenticeship role is available immediately. You will be employed by the University of Exeter within Procurement Services, part of Finance Services at our Streatham Campus in Exeter and will be enrolled on the level 4 Procurement and Supply Apprenticeship with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) with ATN Group. The course will start in September 2021 and will be held over a variety of locations across Exeter and the surrounding area and/or using online platforms.

What you will be doing

* Supporting the implementation of Net Positives Futures, a supply chain management tool that the University is using to track and monitor the sustainability credentials and commitments of its supply chain.
* Support the Procurement team in tasks relating to sustainable procurement. These may include:
* Continuous improvement: research best practices and work collectively with the team to improve our processes and customer’s experience, particularly in the field of sustainable procurement
* Training: Assist with developing training material on sustainable procurement practices for use across the University
* Communication: assist with developing methods of communication with University staff, students & others e.g. PowerPoint/other and maximise the use of technology within the department.

Your tasks will include;
- Supporting data requirements: e.g. reviewing the process steps involved in the buying processes, identifying consolidation or vfm opportunities and checking the method used to raise these requisitions. Guiding colleagues to the right people if tenders, contracts or quotations are needed
- Administration tasks: to provide administrative support to the team and colleagues, supporting a range of procurement activities and their linked query types (e-tendering, e-marketplace systems & processes)
- Continuous improvement: Promoting best practices and working collectively with the wider finance teams to continually improve our processes and customer experience
Training: Assist with developing training material on all aspects of buying activity linked to the team and the Procure to Pay (P2P) process for use across the University
- Communication: Assist with developing methods of communication maximising the use of technology within the department.

You will be employed by the University of Exeter in the Grounds team at our Streatham Campus in Exeter and will be enrolled on the Arborist Level 2 apprenticeship (giving you a City&Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 Forestry and Arboriculture) with Lynher training.

The work of an arborist involves diverse activities such as chainsaw work, aerial tree work, pruning, dismantling and using appropriate machinery. You will also get involved in other grounds related work.

Our ideal candidate will be good with working at heights, enthusiastic, reliable, hard-working, considerate, a team player and have a willingness to learn but most of all enjoy their chosen career path and the realisation of the benefits their activities bring to the wider university population and the environment. This position does not require any initial qualification or experience of arboriculture but a keen interest in trees and their benefits is very important. As part of the selection process, a tree-climbing taster session will be organised by Lynher training.
