The Galloway Gateway will provide outdoor activity, team building, social prescribing, community action learning and event services focused in and around the Galloway area. The Galloway Gateway will also provide Foyer accommodation in Stranraer. Foyers offer an opportunity for young people, usually aged 16-25 who are in housing need, with personal development and other services. The opportunities
enable young people to learn, improve their health and wellbeing, increase their employability and develop leadership skills. To develop and deliver the range of services the Galloway Gateway will work with a range of partner organisations. Our customer base will be individuals and organisations who currently live and operate in the Dumfries & Galloway region and those outside the region including other Foyers. The Galloway Gateway will focus on pull factors which bring people to the Galloway area either for work or pleasure. Work with other Foyers will provide an exchange service through which placements can be offered in other Foyers to increase the training and development opportunities for the young people. Our social enterprise will offer young people the range of training opportunities required to run a successful business including marketing, finance, customer care in addition to the skills and competences to help deliver the activity based services. The key objective is to build the young persons portfolio of transferrable skills and confidence so that they are well placed to secure meaningful employment, hence they will be the main beneficiaries. Social prescribing activities will also result in locality wide health benefits.
