New electric cars are now cheaper than their petrol equivalents for the third consecutive month, according to Auto Trader. 🚗⚡

Manufacturers offering discounts and the Electric Car Grant have driven the average price of a new electric car down to £43,049 in April. Compare this with the £43,178 average price for a new petrol model. 📉 Combined with rising fuel costs, it's no wonder electric vehicles have surged in popularity.

It's interesting to see that electric vehicles were the most searched for fuel type in April, making up 29% of new car enquiries. Skoda's Elroq topped the charts with a 4.1% share of enquiries in May, followed by the Renault 5 E-Tech (3.8%) and the Kia EV3 (3.7%).

In fact, across all fuel types, the Jaecoo 7 is the most in-demand new car with 4.3% of enquiries, even beating the Land Rover Defender 110 (3.1%) and the Volkswagen Golf (3.0%).

With the growing demand and stock levels rising, it's a great time for retailers to capitalise on this momentum. Are you considering making a switch to electric or looking to add EVs to your fleet?
