New Opportunity - Consultant Histopathologist, - East Sussex, UK

We're recruiting for a Consultant Histopathologist role with an NHS Trust in East Sussex, based across two acute sites in Hastings and Eastbourne.

This role carries a sub-specialty focus in gynaecological histology, alongside the additional role of Lead Histopathologist for Cervical Screening Histology. You'll be joining a UKAS-accredited Cellular Pathology department handling around 29,000 surgical cases a year, with an established double-reporting system for cancer cases and an integral role in cancer MDTs.

Open to consultants on the GMC Specialist Register only (CCT, CCST or CESR). Salary sits within the NHS Consultant pay scale depending on experience, with a relocation bonus included.

Beyond the department itself, Hastings and Eastbourne offer a genuine choice of town or country living at affordable prices, plenty of leisure options nearby, and easy access to London and the London airports.

If this sounds like the right next step, or you know a histopathologist who might be interested, get in touch:

Being a specialist at abroad does not automatically make you a specialist in Australia.

It is one of the harder conversations we have with overseas-trained doctors, and one of the most useful to have early rather than late.

Depending on your qualification, training and experience, your route will usually sit in one of three places:

β†’ Specialist Recognition β€” your qualification is assessed by the relevant Australian specialist college as comparable to the Australian standard
β†’ Area of Need β€” you are appointed to a role in a region where the workforce need has been formally identified
β†’ Expedited Specialist pathway β€” for a defined list of qualifications the Medical Board has already accepted

Each one asks for something different. Primary source verification of your qualifications. A college assessment. Evidence of recent clinical practice. Registration with Ahpra. A confirmed employer. A period of supervised practice once you begin.

Where doctors lose months is rarely the paperwork itself. It is starting down the wrong route and finding out eighteen weeks in.

How much do GPs actually earn in Australia?" One of the questions we get asked most.

Spoiler: it's not a flat salary. It's a structure, and once you understand it, the earning potential speaks for itself.

πŸ’° Base income - Most GPs earn 60–70% of the billings they generate, rather than a capped salary. Bulk billing vs. mixed billing, and your registration status, can shift where you land in that range. The more sessions you work and patients you see, the more you earn, there's no ceiling on a good week.

🩺 Extra income - Your base is just the starting point. Offering additional clinical services skin checks, minor procedures, women's health, chronic disease management plans, adds extra billings on top of standard consultations, giving you real room to grow your income beyond the day-to-day.

βš™οΈ Autonomy - Most GP roles in Australia are independent contractor positions, not employment. That means you decide how many sessions you work, how you structure your day, and how you build your practice over time a level of control that's hard to find in a traditional NHS role.

If you're a GP exploring your options abroad, this is worth understanding before you make the move. We help GPs navigate exactly this. 🌏

πŸ“© DM us or reach out directly - we're happy to talk you through it.

Have you considered Germany for your nursing career?

Germany's nursing shortage isn't a shortfall of a few thousand. t's tens of thousands of roles standing empty across hospitals, care homes and community health services, and the country is actively recruiting from abroad to close that gap.

If you're a qualified nurse considering a move, here's why so many are choosing Germany:

β€’ Strong, sustained demand across hospitals, care homes and community settings - this isn't a short-term gap, nursing is one of Germany's most consistently in-demand professions.
β€’ Structured, transparent pay progression - salaries follow a collectively agreed public pay scale, so your pay rises predictably with experience, qualifications and responsibility, rather than being left to negotiation.
β€’ Competitive pay, with employer-sponsored relocation increasingly common.
β€’ A structured recognition (Anerkennung) process for your existing qualification, with a clear route from your current title to full registration as a Pflegefachkraft.
β€’ Support to reach the Goethe-Zertifikat B2 language level required to register and work.
β€’ Strong worker protections as standard - generous paid annual leave, reliable social insurance, and shift/weekend allowances built into most roles.
β€’ EU-wide recognition - once your qualification is recognised in Germany, it opens doors across the wider EU healthcare sector too.
β€’ Genuine career progression - clear pathways into specialisms like ICU, oncology or theatre nursing, and into team-lead or ward-management roles over time.

At Top Tier Talentees, we guide nurses through the full journey, from qualification recognition through to your first shift on a German ward.

Wondering if Germany could be your next move? Get in touch with our team.

Tailoring Your CV for Each Job

One CV doesn’t fit every job!

Sending the same CV to every employer can mean missing opportunities even when you have the right experience.

Before applying, take a few minutes to tailor your CV:

- Read the job description carefully – Identify the key skills, qualifications, and experience the employer is looking for.

- Use relevant keywords – Include terminology and skills that match the vacancy, especially those mentioned in the job description.

- Highlight relevant experience – Put the experience most relevant to the role where recruiters can see it easily.

- Adjust your professional profile – Make sure your opening summary reflects the type of position you’re applying for.

- Focus on achievements – Don’t just list your responsibilities. Show the impact you made and the results you achieved.

Remember: Your CV is your first opportunity to show an employer why you are the right candidate.

A tailored CV can help you stand out from the competition and increase your chances of getting noticed.

"Will my experience even count?"

It's one of the most common doubts we hear from allied health professionals considering Australia and it's usually based on a fear, not a fact. In our experience, the qualifications and experience that got you this far translate more than most candidates expect. The real barrier isn't whether your background is good enough. It's understanding how the recognition process actually works for your specific profession because it isn't the same for everyone.

Here's what's true:

🩺 Some professions go through AHPRA. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, and several other allied health roles are regulated nationally, meaning there's a defined registration pathway, even if the paperwork feels daunting at first.

πŸ“‹ Others are self-regulated, not unregistered. Speech pathology, dietetics, and social work sit outside AHPRA, but that doesn't mean they're an afterthought these professions still go through a formal skills assessment for migration purposes, just via a different body.

πŸ“ˆ Your experience isn't reset to zero. Years of overseas practice are generally recognised once you're through registration - you're not starting again as a graduate, even if the process feels like it at first.

πŸ—£οΈ English proficiency requirements are real, but well-defined. IELTS, OET, and similar tests have clear, published thresholds, not a vague or subjective bar to clear.

None of this means the process is simple. It just means it's navigable and having someone who's walked other candidates through your specific profession's route makes the difference between spending a year going in circles and spending a few months moving forward.

If "would my experience even count" is the thing that's been holding you back, that's exactly the conversation worth having.

The PEP Specialist pathway is one of the most widely used routes for internationally trained GPs pursuing specialist registration in Australia. Here's what the process looks like:

1 - Confirm eligibility for PEP Specialist assessment with the relevant Specialist College
2 - Complete a period of supervised practice in an accredited training post
3 - Sit any required College examinations
4 - Apply to AHPRA and the Medical Board for specialist registration on completion

It's a longer road than CAP, but for many IMGs, it's the most realistic route to full registration.

Want to know where you'd fit on this pathway? Get in touch with our team.
