You might have a pit free and a bus waiting, but if your engineers are already tied up on other jobs, you’ve still got a queue. Pulling someone off a repair to get an inspection done just leaves you with a different job waiting to be finished.

Two big HGV announcements last week - Scottish hauler John G Russell took delivery of three prototype Scania hydrogen fuel-cell trucks for Government-backed UK trials, while Maritime Transport in Wakefield put five Renault electric HGVs to work on container movements.

Different technologies, but both need skilled technicians to keep them working. At Excel, we already have EV-trained HGV technicians ready to support workshops as electric vehicles become part of the day-to-day workload.

That means having people with the right training for the vehicles in front of them, alongside the practical experience a busy workshop needs. And while fleets introduce new technology, the existing trucks still need servicing, inspecting, and repairing.

Meet Craig Bradford, our new Technical Support Specialist.

Craig joins us after nearly 40 years working in the Road Transport Industry. He was Master Technician working for Scania for over 20 years, before moving into the bus sector and working at a similarly high level for a bus operator for nearly 10 years. A bit of a local legend in the Northwest of England, his practical knowledge and experience will be a real asset to our team, our engineers, and the workshops we support.

Calls, emails, and messages are all part of keeping things moving - but nothing beats getting out to site, seeing how things are going first-hand, and having a 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩.

Every workshop is different - different fleets, different pressures, different workloads, and different technical requirements. The better we understand that environment, the better we can 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯.
