I'm looking for 12 people to start a new job in Diss on 1st June.

Not industry experts.
Not perfect CVs.

Just good people.

If you would like to apply, please email your CV to [email protected]

People who are confident speaking with others, calm under pressure, reliable and ready to swap unpredictable hospitality or retail shifts for something far more structured.

I'm supporting a growing business in Diss that's recruiting multiple Customer Service Advisors, with full training provided before anyone goes live.

The hours work like this: 38.75 hours per week across rotating shifts, starting at 8.30am, 9.30am or 10.30am Monday to Friday (latest finish 7pm). Alternate Saturdays included (9.30am–4.30pm), and on those weeks you get a weekday off in lieu. No Sundays.

Worth knowing:
This is a highly customer-focused role. You'll spend much of your day speaking with customers while working across multiple systems and screens at the same time - so good computer skills and confidence multitasking really do matter here.

It's a busy, social and supportive environment with genuine progression for the right people.

£26,780 starting salary
Annual salary review
31 days holiday
Annual discretionary bonus
Private medical cover after probation
Full training provided
Free parking
5-minute walk from Diss train station

Important:
Successful applicants must be available to start on 1st June and commit fully to the initial 3-week training period.

You might not be looking yourself but I bet you know somebody who:

works in hospitality or retail
is brilliant with people
enjoys a busy environment
wants more stability and a proper career path
or just needs someone to give them a real opportunity

If you would like to apply, please email your CV to [email protected].

Please share or tag somebody who should see this ❤️ thank you!

Starting a new job takes a bit from both sides to make it work. From the business, and from the person joining.

I was with Park Radio this morning talking about onboarding, and it tied in with a couple of conversations I’ve had this week.

Two people, both fairly new into roles, both just starting to question things a little. Nothing had gone wrong, but things didn’t quite feel how they expected. One said they felt a bit on the outside of things, which I think a lot of people will recognise, even if they wouldn’t say it out loud.

And most people don’t say it. They just sit with it and try to work it out for themselves.

From a business point of view, it’s rarely intentional. Everyone’s busy, and you assume someone will settle in. But starting somewhere new can feel a bit uncomfortable from the other side too. You don’t know the people yet, or how things really work, so it does take a bit of effort to step into that.

Those early weeks matter more than we sometimes realise. When it works, you can see it quite quickly. People relax, get involved, and start to find their place.

Just something I’ve seen a bit of this week...

Sunny one in the office today ☀️

Been a busy few days with interviews, calls and a few new opportunities coming through across Norfolk and Suffolk.

Sometimes it can look quiet on the outside, but there’s often more happening in the local jobs market than people think.

If you’re considering a move, or need help hiring, feel free to message me.

Hope everyone’s enjoying the sunshine.

What should you wear for interview these days?

It’s still one of the most common questions people ask, and the answer isn’t always as obvious as it once was.

Many workplaces are more relaxed now, but making an effort still matters.

My usual advice? Aim slightly smarter than the everyday dress code, and wear something you feel comfortable in.

Confidence starts before the interview begins.

What do you think, have interview dress codes changed?

Real people and real conversations- proud to be part of this networking group!

You may have noticed things are looking a little different around here. 👀

We’ve recently introduced a fresh new look for Diss Business Forum, giving the page a more modern feel while keeping the same focus at the heart of what we do.

Bringing local businesses together across Norfolk and Suffolk through conversation, connection and shared opportunities.

While the look may have changed, the aim remains the same. Creating a space where businesses can meet, build relationships and support each other as they grow.

It’s great to have you with us as we move things forward.

I’ve had this come up a few times locally over the past couple of weeks - just from different sides.

Businesses saying they need people who’ll get stuck in, be reliable, part of the team.

And then candidates saying almost the same thing back… just in a different way.

‘I just want something steady’
‘Something hands-on’
‘Not stuck behind a desk all day’

On paper, it should be straightforward. But it often isn’t.

At the moment, I’ve got a small cluster of these types of roles in and around Diss (all within about 10 miles):

- Production Team Leader
- Production Operatives
- Quality Apprentice
- Production Technician Apprentice
- Trainee Security and Fire Engineer

All with established local businesses, and all proper hands-on roles.

They won’t be right for everyone, but if it sounds like something you - or someone you know - might be looking for, feel free to message me.

Always happy to talk it through.

Hiring doesn’t usually fall down because there aren’t candidates. It’s more often that no one’s got the time to do it properly.

I had this at the beginning of the year with a role that had been open for a while. They’d tried themselves, seen a couple of people, but hadn’t managed to get back to them quickly enough. Not through lack of interest… just time getting away from them.

By the time they followed up, the candidates had switched off, so they were back to square one.

That’s usually where it starts to go a bit off track.

Because it’s not just about finding someone, it’s everything around it… the conversations, expectations, keeping people engaged and making sure it works both ways. That part takes time, and most businesses just don’t have it alongside everything else.

When they asked me in, we took a bit of time at the start to properly talk it through. What had worked, what hadn’t, what they actually needed and what they didn’t.

Then I got to work.

One candidate, two conversations, offer made.

All wrapped up in a couple of weeks.

That’s usually the difference. A bit more time upfront so you don’t waste it later.

Most businesses don’t need more CVs. They just need someone to make the time to find the right person properly.
