Assistant Herdsperson in Co. Tipperary. Ireland Ref: 3313
The Farm
This is a superb 250 cow dairy farm not far from Clonmel in the heart of the Golden Vale in South Tipp.
Milking is conducted through a 27 unit herringbone parlour.
We are seeking an assistant herdsperson/stockperson to work side by side with the farm owner.
He /she will need to have a keen interest in dairying and cows, will be interested in grassland measurement and management.
They will be competent tractor drivers and will be able to turn their hand to typical dairying farming tasks such as fertilizer spreading, topping, feeding, and general farm tasks.

The successful applicant will have experience of the tasks outlined above, will have a clean driving licence and will be able to display a can do attitude to completing tasks.
They will be able to integrate seamlessly into a small farm team.
In addition they will need to be able to assume full responsibility for farm operations on occasions when the farm owner is not there.

General Farm Worker / Milker in Co. Kerry IRELAND Ref: 3312

Dairy Farm in County Kerry only 3 miles for the stunning town of Di**le. This farm is very clean with a very simple layout that cuts down on intensive labour.

Milking 260 cows through a Delaval herringbone parlour. Most of the machinery work is contracted out, however, some machinery work such as slurry, topping, shaking will need to be carried out. The farmer is looking for someone who is enthusiastic and looking for a long term career in farming. The farmer does the morning milking so the successful candidate would not be starting until 09.30am, working through the day and finishing with the evening milking.

The successful candidate would have experience in milking and have a keen interest in a farming career. He/she needs to be confident in driving machinery or show an interest in learning. Must be able to work on your own initiative. Training will also be provided if the candidate does not have the appropriate experience but is willing to learn. A great opportunity for someone looking to pursue a career in farming.

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY
We are seeking a competent assistant farm manager with the skills, aptitude and desire to take on the role of running the entire farm operation within a few months of getting familiarised with the operation of the business.
There is real potential here for a go ahead type of person to prove themselves in this role and progress rapidly into a share milking/partnership type arrangement. The pathway to progressing along this route is entirely dependent on the ability of the successful applicant to prove that they have the skills,management abilities, commercial acumen and emotional intelligence to quickly successfully integrate into the existing farm team and provide it with the leadership and the drive to give it forward momentum.
We are seeking somebody here who is capable , competent, forward looking and ambitious.
They will need to be a skilled grassland manager with energy and drive to spare.
Fluent English and a full driving licence is essential.
ABOUT THE FARM
This is a modern well run farm with 200 cows and potential for another 100 cows in the near future.
Milking is done through a 26 unit herringbone.
Well located right in the heart of Ireland this is an ideal location, not far from Dublin or the west coast.

A move to IRELAND for the right candidate?

The successful candidate will be overseeing the farm under the owner.
There are two milking parlours, a 12 unit and a 16 unit.
The successful candidate will be looking after the 12 unit parlour with 160-170 cows coming through this.
Overall, there are in excess of 400 cows being milked.
Candidates needs to have previous experience ideally as a Herd Manager or Assistant Herd Manager.

Accommodation can be sourced nearby at a commercial rate.

It is with great regret that we have decided to cease our business operations in the UK. We have worked with many great clients and staff there over the last 10 years. As a farmer owned co-op, we have decided to focus on current growth opportunities within Ireland's dairy industry.
Our UK business was dependent on a continuous efficient flow of skilled immigrants being able to come to the country. The new immigration law applying from January 1st 2021 effectively eliminates a major source of our dairy staff. Without having access to the type of staff our dairy farmer clients need, we can’t provide the service that we want to provide.

Unfortunately, we had to take the logical step of ceasing our activities in the UK in favour of Ireland ,where a more favourable immigration regime is in place and where we can continue to deliver a quality service to our dairy farming clients.

Again a big thank you to all the great people we have met and done business with over the last 10 years, we really appreciated your business or service to us and wish you continued good farming.
