Specialised Castings Ltd was founded in 2001 by Steve Waring, a foundry veteran who started work in this industry at the age of 16. The company can trace its heritage back to 1819, through Allied iron Workers and Falkirk Iron Works. Originally part of Falcon Catering (Glynwed), Larbert, a management buyout by Steve in 2001 saw the foundry relocated to Denny. Starting with 16 of the experienced fou

ndry workers from Falcon, the company has gone from strength to strength and encouraged young people into this traditional industry. Steve was joined by his wife Nanette in running the company and for some years by their son, John, to make it a real family business. In 2015, Steve and Nanette decided to retire and to ensure the continuity of the business and employment in the local area of Denny, near Falkirk, a decision was made to transfer business ownership over to the employees. They were assisted in this process by Carole Leslie, a business ownership specialist. This was completed in June 2015.
