Today, we delivered 102 Easter eggs to an organisation that delivers so much more.

Last year, it was 99, so the team made sure to break 100 this time round!

We’re really proud of everyone at Astute for getting involved and helping us donate 102 Easter eggs to the incredible Fair Ways.

Fair Ways support children and young people across the South Coast, and it’s always great to give a little something back.

Want to help us break 102 next year? Join the team!

The advice our consultants wish they'd had on day one.

Patience.
Persistence.
And the willingness to just pick up the phone.

Recruitment isn't easy, and everyone here will tell you that.

But the people who stick with it, learn fast, and keep coming back? They're the ones who build something real.

If you're thinking about a career in recruitment, a great place to start.

Two pints of Guinness for £5.70 and a bucket list item checked off.

Vinnie hasn't stopped bringing this up and honestly, fair enough.

He used his 9 Day Fortnight Friday to travel up to Newcastle for the first time and finally watch Alter Bridge live.

A bucket list item, years in the making, ticked off on a random Friday because he actually had one free to use.

Our 9 Day Fortnight gives you every second Friday off, fully paid.

Proper time back, built into how we work.

If that sounds like your kind of workplace, the link in bio has everything you need.

Recruitment isn’t a typical 9 to 5.

It’s problem solving, conversations, wins, and the occasional coffee run.

Sound like your kind of day?

We’re hiring.

Some days everything clicks. Some days the phone goes quiet and a placement falls through.

That is recruitment.

And it is perfectly normal.

"The number one biggest thing in recruitment for someone to succeed is a positive attitude," because when things go wrong (and they will), mindset is what carries you through.

The people who thrive at Astute all do the same things:

👉 Show up with a plan and stay organised
👉 Build real relationships, not hard sales, because "recruitment is all about relationships"
👉 Are willing to put in "an extra 20 minutes, at the end of the day"

"They show up and they work hard."

Every day, without fail.

Because "you get out of it what you put in."

We are hiring!

What do you think is the one trait that separates a good recruiter from a great one?

Everyone thinks recruitment is easy.
It isn’t.

We asked our recruiters for the biggest misconceptions they hear about the job, and the answers were pretty consistent.

Here are some of the facts:

It’s not a straight line.
It’s balancing candidates and clients.
It’s competitive, but not dog eat dog.
It’s not just about money, it’s about helping people and delivering for clients.

Which myth have you heard most, or which one surprised you?

If you’re considering a career in recruitment and you want the real picture, drop a comment or send us a message.

Five years goes quick when you’re doing work that matters.

This month, James Barker hit 5 years with Astute and picked up a long service award.

Here’s the thing, five years in one place in recruitment is rare.

It’s a fast moving industry, and people don’t stick around unless the culture’s right and the work feels worth it.

If you’ve worked with James, you’ll know why he’s lasted.

Consistent, dependable, and always up for doing things properly, even when it’s busy.

James, thanks for everything you’ve brought to the team over the last five years.

Drop your congratulations in the comments, and if you’ve got a favourite James story, share it.

Ruth Winter has been named Astute’s Employee of the Month.

If you’ve worked with Ruth, you’ll know why.

She leads from the front.
She keeps standards high, even when things get busy.
She shows up for her team, not just for the result.

And she gets the job done properly, with consistency and care.

Recruitment can be a fast moving world.

The people who make the biggest difference are the ones who stay calm, stay organised, and make everyone around them better.

That’s Ruth.

Big congratulations, Ruth, and thank you for everything you do.

Massive well done to Rim for heading back to Priory School in Portsmouth to speak to Year 10s about apprenticeships.

She shared her own pathway into an apprenticeship, what the role is really like so far, and the advice she wishes she’d had at that stage.

We also got this message from the school afterwards, which says it all:

“Thank you for suggesting that Rim could come in and share her experiences with us, it was lovely to welcome her back to school.

"She very bravely spoke to a whole year group assembly about her pathway that led to the fantastic apprenticeship position she is in today.

"Huge congratulations to Rim on all she has achieved!”

If you could go back to Year 10, what careers advice would you give yourself?
