My Client is looking for Export Veterinarians to join there team in Northern Ireland on an import Health contract.
They are offering a generous salary of £45,000 an extra £10,000 for night shifts.
38 hours a week and £500 a month living allowances.
Range of tasks
The Contractor Staff (OVs) supplied for delivery of this Service will be required to undertake a range of OV inspection and verification tasks in accordance with and as specified in Official Controls Regulation (EU) 2017/625 (OCR) at Northern Ireland (NI) Points of Entry (POE).
Note: The OV range of tasks that the Contractor may be required to assist with include: -
Inspection of vessel manifest: The portal's official veterinarian must supervise the inspection of the vessel manifests that were actioned beforehand by the portal inspectors. They must decide which trailers/runners should be detained for further checks.
Mailbox supervision: The portal's official veterinarian must check the mailbox regularly and promptly act upon received emails, answer particular requests and queries, or forward them to the appropriate person.
Inspect animals and animal products: The portal's official veterinarian must inspect all animals and animal products, including live animals, meat, dairy products, eggs, and other animal-derived products that arrive at the border control post.
Identify and report potential health risks: The OV must identify and report any potential health risks posed by animals or animal products. This includes diseases, parasites, and other issues that could potentially pose a risk to public health.
Ensure compliance with import/export regulations: The OV must ensure that all animals and animal products meet the import/export regulations of the country or region. This includes verifying documentation, health certificates, and other requirements.
Implement biosecurity measures: The OV must implement and oversee biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of disease. This includes disinfection protocols and quarantine procedures.
Collaborate with other officials: The OV should collaborate with other officials, including customs agents, border control agents, and other officials, to ensure that all animals and animal products are properly inspected. They must also ensure that any potential health risks are identified and addressed.
Provide advice and guidance: The OV should provide advice and guidance to importers, exporters, and other stakeholders on animal health and welfare issues as required. This includes regulations and requirements related to animal health and welfare.
Monitor animal welfare: The OV must monitor the welfare of animals during transport and while they are at SPS Inspection Facility. They must ensure that the animals are treated humanely, and their needs are met.
Carry out testing and sampling: The OV may be required to carry out testing and sampling of animals and animal products to detect the presence of diseases or other health risks.
In a shift the OV has responsibility for the supervision and prioritisation of work allocation within the portal team and must liaise closely with their portal team members, consisting of inspectors and industrial staff.
Aim to facilitate the free flow of goods and adopt a firm, fair and reasonable approach to enforcement guided by existing protocols and focusing on persistent, serious non-compliance and risks to animal and public health
Candidates MUST be eligible to work in the United Kingdom and have the relevant visas, if required. Must also be registered on the RCVS
