JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Care Assistant

ACCOUNTABLE TO: The Home Manager

REPORTS TO: Senior Carer

JOB PROFILE: To join together with other members of staff in order to provide the individual care required by each resident, making sure that they retain as much of their dignity and individuality as possible.

To assist in providing a happy and caring atmosphere and be involved in the general activities of the home.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Help residents who need assistance with washing and toileting, dressing and un******ng.

2. Help residents with limited mobility or physical disabilities, making the best use of aids provided.

3. MUST BE FLEXIBLE TO COVER NIGHT SHIFTS AND HOLIDAYS

4. Assist in the control of incontinence, providing comfort with dignity.

5. Care for residents who are temporarily unwell.

6. Help care for residents who are dying.

7. To provide es**rt for residents who may need to attend out patient appointments.

8. Assist in giving stimulation to residents by talking to them and by helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the Home.

9. Make visitors welcome and give them refreshments and any assistance they may require.

10. Read and write care plan reports. Take part in staff and residents meeting and attend training sessions when required.

11. Answer emergency call bells, the door and the telephone.

12. Make and change beds. Tidy rooms and do light cleaning. Empty commodes.

13. Assist residents with nutritional needs, assist in clearing and tidy dining rooms.

14. Check, mend and launder residents clothing as requested.

15. Observe the Home and Health & Safety Policy at all times.

16. Carry out duties with regard to Home Fire regulation policy.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £9.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff are provided with full PPE

PCR tests are administered weekly.

All applicants must have had, at least, both Covid-19 vaccinations. Booster vaccination is also required.

DBS application to be made upon job offer.

The duties include assisting the Home Manager and Deputy Managers in:
• Supervising the Care Team
• Overseeing that the Residents' individual needs are met
• Ordering of Residents' monthly medications.
• Providing hands on personal and social care
• Assisting with Pre-Admission Assessments and re-assessment of residents' needs
• Liaising with Healthcare Professionals and Social Workers
• Monitoring Care Plans to ensure they are up-to-date and give an accurate account of the residents' needs
• Assisting the Manager and Office Managers with new enquiries and potential residents as well as the Induction of new members of staff
• Assisting with Staff Supervisions
• Being on call 1 week in 4 to answer any queries from staff during evenings, nights, and weekends
• Attending staff handovers, conducting Senior Care staff meetings, and keeping a record of all information provided to the Senior Care staff
