Some of the most valuable people in an architectural practice are not always the most visible.

➖ They might not be leading the pitch.

➖ They might not be presenting the concept.

➖ They might not be the loudest voice in the design review.

➖ The Architectural Technologist who spots the issue early.

➖ The Technical Designer who understands the detail.

➖ The BIM Coordinator who keeps everyone aligned.

➖ The person who knows what will cause problems before it gets to site.

And yet they are not always recognised in the same way as more design-led positions.

𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞.

➖ They reduce risk.

➖ They protect quality.

➖ They support the wider team.

And when they leave, businesses often realise very quickly just how much they were doing.

It is not always the next step because someone has been in a practice for long enough.

At Architect or Senior Architect level, the focus is often on project delivery, design quality, coordination and technical ability.

➖ Another might be the person everyone relies on when the project moves into technical delivery.

➖ Another might be most confident on site, solving problems and keeping things moving.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 “𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭” 𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲.

The stages someone has worked across matter.
