Deconstructing coding bootcamps today! 🎓 Let's dive into why certain ones stand out and what they bring to the table:

1. Codesmith: Known for its academic rigour, Codesmith's deep dive into computer science fundamentals and advanced JavaScript/TypeScript brings grads to a mid-level engineering position rather than just entry-level. 🧠 Their CIRR-audited data proves their transparency and effectiveness!

2. Tech Elevator: Perfect for those looking to embed themselves in enterprise tech. With a keen focus on Java and .NET/C #, Tech Elevator aligns closely with the non-startup job market, offering a pragmatic, corporate learning vibe.

3. Launch School/Boot.dev: These are gems for serious backend enthusiasts and those wanting deep CS foundations. Their mastery-based, asynchronous model means it might take longer, but the depth and affordability (£199/mo) make it incredibly worthwhile.

4. Per Scholas: Absolutely zero financial risk! Tuition-free and selection-based, this nonprofit is a fantastic no-cost option. Partnering with corporate employers ensures graduates have direct pathways to opportunities.

Understanding these nuances can help candidates choose the right path tailored to their career goals! Which one aligns with your ambitions? Share your thoughts below! ⬇️

Scarcely a day passes without us feeling the ripple effects of global events. The latest from the ONS shows that UK job vacancies have plunged to their lowest in five years, signalling a significant shift within our labour market. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East and rising economic uncertainty are making both employers and candidates quite cautious. 🛑

In the three months leading to March, the UK unemployment rate rose to 5%, and pay growth slowed to just 0.3% when adjusted for inflation. The number of payroll employees declined by 100,000 in April alone. Lower-paying sectors like hospitality and retail are feeling the pressure the most, according to ONS Director Liz McKeown. 🍽️

While recruitment challenges may ease slightly, the bigger picture points to slower economic growth and increasing financial pressure on households. This is a time for both job seekers and employers to stay adaptable and informed. 📊

With costs rising and global uncertainty looming, how are you coping with the current hiring landscape? Let's discuss!

Falling vacancies and weaker payroll numbers are adding to concerns that economic uncertainty and rising business costs are cooling recruitment activity.

Today, public concern over AI and its impact on jobs is at an all-time high. According to a recent study by The King's Institute for Artificial Intelligence and the Policy Institute at King's College London, a significant 69% of workers are anxious about AI-driven job losses. A whopping 57% of the public even believe that AI will eliminate more jobs than it creates. 🚀

The anxiety is particularly intense for younger workers, especially those entering the entry-level white-collar job market. Most people, including employers, agree with Anthropic's CEO, Dario Amodei, who predicts AI could wipe out half of these roles within five years. 📉

As a recruiter, I see first-hand how these changes are causing apprehension among new graduates as they prepare to enter the workforce. Employers are adopting AI rapidly, and while this brings productivity gains, it also means a reduction in hiring.

Let's start a conversation on how we can balance technological advances with sustainable employment opportunities. What are your thoughts on the future of work in the age of AI?

Most workers fear artificial intelligence will destroy jobs and damage opportunities for young people as businesses accelerate AI adoption.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has incredible potential, but it's important to approach it with a balanced perspective. The founder of Raspberry Pi, Eben Upton, recently warned on the BBC's Big Boss Interview podcast that overhyping AI's capabilities could discourage people from pursuing tech jobs. This could exacerbate the existing skill shortage in tech and negatively impact our economy.

Upton highlighted a critical point: while tools like ChatGPT and Claude are revolutionary, they aren't here to replace us but to augment our abilities. By fostering a realistic outlook on AI, we can encourage budding tech enthusiasts to enter the field and continue driving innovation.

As a recruiter, I've noticed first-hand how AI is reshaping the employment landscape. But let's remember, there's immense value in human creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration!

How do you see AI impacting your career outlook? Let's discuss below! ⬇️

Eben Upton warns against claims that Artificial Intelligence will destroy vast numbers of computing roles over the coming years.

Choosing between MBB (McKinsey, BCG, Bain) and Big 4 (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) consulting firms is a pivotal career decision. From personal experience and after reading a thorough comparison by Taylor Warfield, here's a breakdown:

Salary: MBB pays significantly more. Entry-level positions at MBB can fetch £100K+, compared to £70K-£85K at Big 4. This gap widens at higher levels.

Career Progression: MBB offers quicker promotions with a rigorous up-or-out model, typically reaching partner in 10-12 years. Big 4 takes longer, around 13-15 years, with a steadier but slower climb.

Work Type: MBB focuses on high-level strategy, working directly with C-suite executives on critical decisions. Big 4 handles more implementation and advisory roles, often for middle management, which can be equally rewarding and offer different experiences.

Work-Life Balance: Prepare for intense travel and long hours at MBB, given the high-stakes projects. Big 4 provides more predictable schedules, albeit still challenging.

Exit Opportunities: MBB alumni often transition to private equity, corporate strategy, or C-suite roles due to the resume prestige. Big 4 alumni excel in finance leadership, tech, or specialised consulting roles.

Both paths offer rewarding careers, but your choice should align with your career goals, desired work environment, and lifestyle preferences. I'd love to hear your thoughts or personal experiences with either MBB or Big 4!

&Differences

MBB vs Big 4 consulting differs in salary ($135K vs $90K entry level), prestige, project type, and exit opportunities. Full comparison of McKinsey, BCG, Bain vs Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG on pay, work culture, career progression, and how to choose the right path.
