Role: Residential Support Workers - Seniors and Residential Support workers. Wanted.

Qualification: Minimum Level 3 NVQ in Residential Childcare.

Term: Full-Time Permanent

Location: Tewkesbury Gloucestershire

Salary Range: £23,400 to £26,500 Dependant on qualifications and experience.

Must be a Drive and have own vehicle for work.

The Client

We are proud to be representing a very well established client in Tewkesbury Gloucestershire. They are a family run business providing integrated services for children who have experienced trauma resulting in emotional and behavioural difficulties. As a childcare provider they offer both long-term and crisis-intervention placements that embraces the concept of family values.

They are now looking for both Residential and Senior Residential Support Workers with a Level 3 in health and social care qualification to be responsible to the Senior Residential Care Worker, Home Manager and Care Director for the administration of the resource as a whole

The Ideal Candidate must possess the following:

Smart appearance
Able to communicate confidently with colleagues and other professionals
Enjoy a physical and energetic role.
Good standard of education to GCSE or equivalent
Must have Level 3 NVQ in Residential Childcare.
Empathy for working with children in a care environment
Basic computer skills:

Experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential to this role
Education in Social Care or Care Management courses
Able to learn organisational culture quickly
Possess an understanding of a commitment to equal opportunities

Practical skills:

Familiar with aspects of confidentiality

Location: Bristol

Salary Range: £40,000 - £43,000 DOE

Hours available - 36-48 hours per week, days/nights

Day shifts- 8am to 8pm

Night shifts- 8pm to 8am

Main Purpose

To support the team in overseeing and providing an excellent level of clinical care in the home whilst understanding the importance of meeting the social needs that contribute to a person’s well-being.

Have overall responsibility for the clinical care delivered whilst working on shift as the registered nurse in charge.

To work in partnership with the team to achieve positive outcomes across all areas of the home.

To positively role model and promote our person cantered philosophy of care to staff, relatives and visiting professionals in order to maintain a consistently high standard of care and support.

Our Client

Is a registered Charity and Housing Association employing over 1200 staff. It has 3 divisions, Housing Services, Community Support and the Care Home division with 4 care homes with 270 beds majority of which are for residents living with dementia.

Major Job Challenges:

To proactively manage issues, problem solve and find solutions when complaints or concerns arise.
To have an understanding of the CQC requirements relating top the registration of the home- The 5 Questions -Safe? Effective? Well Led? Caring? Responsive?
Responsibility for the supervision and the appraisal of members of the care team including addressing areas of concern with practice and recognising/encouraging when good practice is demonstrated.
Assessing, planning with the person, implementing and evaluating the support and necessary care needs.
Ensuring that all our clients procedures and followed and that record keeping is kept up to date. To be aware of and adhere to current policies and guidelines for nursing practice which reflect statutory and NMC requirements.
Administer drugs in accordance with the drug policy understanding the actions to follow should errors occur- in relation to both self and others.
Oversee the training and administration of drugs by care staff.
Ensure that all staff provide care as per care plans that are fully reflective of the persons current health status.
Participation is direct care of residents essential in order to coach and mentor staff in high standards of nursing care across the home.
Maintain professional standards in behaviour and attitude and take responsibility for own professional development and be aware of personal accountability in relation to the professional practice as stipulated in the NMC’s Code of Professional Conduct.
Expectation to assist with covering of holidays, sickness and training and arranging staff cover.
To be responsible for the day to day running of a shift.
To arrange, attend and be part of leading regular staff meetings.
Be able to try new approaches to help support people with dementia. Role modelling ideas and giving support, guidance and being able to communicate to staff errors in practice.
Supervision of staff at all times, ensuring that they are fit for duty and that arranging staff cover when necessary, including managing staff absence as directed by the Home Manager in line with the Clients Care Policy.
To supervise the induction of new staff, be able to give guidance on mentoring for other staff. To encourage staff members to further develop as individuals.

The Ideal Candidate:

Registered Nurse Qualification with a current NMC PIN number.
Evidence of clinical skills and knowledge relevant to the Care Home Environment.
Excellent communication skills- demonstration of a competent and professional manner regardless of the situation.
Able to demonstrate good time and resource management skills.
A flexible and adaptable approach to working hours in order to meet the operational requirements of the home.
To be competent and confidant in the management of the long-term conditions effecting older people.

Essential Key Qualities:

Able to work as a team member as well as a team leader who can motivate and drive staff towards positive outcomes.
To adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.
Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a complete understanding of the necessity for confidentiality and duty of candour requirements.
A commitment to the development of staff to enable them to be empowered to take responsibility for their own actions and deliver excellent customer service.
A commitment to enabling older people to live their lives as well as they can regardless of the complexities of their long-term conditions or life limiting illness.
Able to act as an ambassador for our Clients.
