Evidence show that one of the most powerful drivers of inclusion is Allyship.
In fact, having just one strong ally can help reduce the possibility of suicidal thoughts of LGBTQ+ people by 40%.
Having someone to actively listen and being able to signpost help is something we can all do.
Here are a few practical ways to build it into your workplace culture:
✔️ Listen to understand, not to respond
Pride Month is a reminder that lived experiences can be very different from your own.
✔️ Speak up when it matters
Allyship means challenging bias or inappropriate behaviour, even when it’s uncomfortable.
✔️ Make space for others
Ensure all voices are heard in meetings, decisions, and progression opportunities.
✔️ Support progression, not just presence
True inclusion is about creating equal access to growth and opportunity.
✔️ Lead by example all year round
Allyship isn’t a campaign, it’s consistent behaviour that shapes culture.
At Winberry, we believe strong, inclusive teams don’t just happen, they’re built intentionally through the way people are hired, supported, and developed.
Pride Month is a celebration but it’s also a reminder to keep showing up for each other, every day.
