NEBOSH Graduation is on Monday 7th September 🎓

If you've completed your NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma this year, this is more than a ceremony — it's formal recognition of the hours of study, evenings and weekends you put in to get here.

It's also a genuine networking opportunity: hundreds of health and safety professionals, peers and industry leaders in one room, plus keynote speakers sharing insight on where the profession is heading.

As one of our graduates put it: "A lot of hard work and effort... I'm just overwhelmed with the honour."

We'll be there every year to celebrate with our graduates — come find us for a gift bag! 🎁

Three "small" industrial buildings. Over 40 fire engines between them. One incident ran for ten days.

While this summer's record wildfires dominated headlines, a quieter pattern played out on industrial estates — sites holding combustible waste and materials pulling an outsized share of stretched fire and rescue resource.

Brenig Moore breaks down what happened at Sutton Bonington, Bradford and Widnes, why "small footprint" tells you nothing about fire risk, and where the legal duty of care actually sits (Fire Safety Order, DSEAR, Fire Prevention Plans).

Five things to check before the next hot, dry spell 👇

"I was impressed with the general feel of the place and the attitude of the people working there."

It's feedback like this that reflects what we aim for at Astutis — not just strong course content, but a genuinely supportive learning environment. It's also helped us secure our 4th consecutive Feefo Platinum Trusted Service Award. 🏆

📊 A local council has been fined £6,000 after an employee fell from a faulty stepladder and fractured his collarbone and broke ribs. The Council had already identified the ladder as unsafe. It just never removed it.

Identifying a hazard is not controlling it. A known-defective ladder left in the cupboard waiting for someone to grab it in a hurry is not managed,

The HSE found:

-Ladders identified as unsafe but still accessible
-No training for employees on how to check if a ladder was safe before using it.
-No process for physically removing defective kit from circulation.

Falls from height remain the single biggest killer in British workplaces. But this one was entirely preventable. The controls are basic and affordable: schedule your inspections, remove defective equipment immediately (not later, immediately), train people to check before climbing, and ask whether a ladder is even the right tool for the task.

🎯 Is the Workplace Safety Suite for you? You're large or multi-site, training consistency is hard, you juggle multiple providers, or you're growing fast.

You know how many people you've got, but you cannot reliably answer whether everyone is trained. That is when it makes sense.

Run your situation through the test in the guide: Do you train the same topics repeatedly? Multiple sites or hybrid teams? Juggle more than one provider? Use contractors? Have to evidence compliance to auditors? Growing or acquiring?

More true, stronger the fit.
