The 3 Cs of Interview Success

Confidence – Speak clearly, maintain eye contact, good handshake and let your personality shine.

Content – Back up your answers with real examples. The STAR method is a great way to keep your responses clear and structured.

Conversation – Remember, an interview is a two-way discussion. Ask thoughtful questions and show genuine interest in the role.

I’ve had a great week helping a lady finally get the interview she wanted as a Credit controller.

I’ve updated her cv and cover letter, talked her through her first interview and now waiting for a date for her second! It’s great to hear her confidence!

If interview questions like “Can you give me an example of a time when…?” make your mind go blank - Use the CARL method to structure your answer clearly and confidently:

C – Context – What was happening?
A – Action – What did you do?
R – Result – What happened?
L – Learning – What did you learn?

Example:
A difficult customer calls about a delayed delivery.
I stayed calm, listened, apologised and arranged next-day delivery.
They left positive feedback.
I learned the importance of staying calm and taking ownership.

What is ATS?

Many employers now use ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) to screen CVs before a recruiter / hiring manager even sees them!

If your CV isn’t clearly laid out, uses complex formatting, or doesn’t highlight the right skills, it can be rejected before a human ever reads it.

A well-written CV helps your application get through the system, makes your experience easier to spot, and improves your chances of getting an interview.

If you’re applying for roles and not getting responses, your CV could be the reason.
